Now yesterday was a truly interesting one for me. I was seated next to Alma Deutscher in Business on PEK-VIE, who is the latest child composer prodigy to appear. Apparently she writes melodious music and is helping, or influencing, modern classical music to become more accessible again (given that a lot of contemporary music is downright dissonant). Now, she was born in 2005 and at the age of 14 she already has created a couple of operas and concertos, as well as sonatas. That is real work, creating large scale pieces, I can tell you. So we had quite an interesting conversation, as I still write a lot of music using contemporary idioms with the goal of creating sonic beauty out of it. You will find loads of videos and soundtracks on YouTube. Here is the Wikipedia article:
