LH A330-300 vs Iberia A330

Looking for advice . . . we are flying RDU-BCN next June. We are currently booked on a repositioning flight from RDU-ORD, and then ORD-MAD-BCN on Iberia. ORD-MAD is on Iberia's A330 in business class.
LH recently added a RDU-FRA flight, so now we have the option of flying RDU-FRA-BCN, with RDU-FRA on LH's A330-300 in business. I know the LH A330-300 has the 2x2x2 configuration, but we are a couple flying together, so that configuration isn't a huge issue to us.
The #1 concern is the ability to sleep on the long transatlantic flight. If LH biz will be just as comfortable as Iberia biz for that purpose, I'd like to switch to the simpler itinerary. But if Iberia biz will be more comfortable, I'll stick with our current plans.
Appreciate any thoughts or suggetions!

IB has the better seat but LH 2-2-2 is better for a couple.

Go for the best time. If youre looking to maximize sleep get the latest TATL departure.

A better seat couldnt help me to sleep at 5pm body clock time on the outbound.

If both are early departures then go for ease of connecting.

Id want to avoid self transfer at ORD but MAD is better than FRA for connecting.

My advice to you: Avoid LH. Everything about Germany and German products is great except LH current long haul business class on the A333 and A380 meh.

why specifically LH A330 and A380? And not B747-400, B747-8, A340-300 and A340-600?

If Business Class ist not good enough, just fly First. It's great.

This forum is full of contributors who believe LH F is very far from great currently.

I cannot complain, all my F flights on LH and LX this year were great (with the exception of one, where my luggage didn't make it). No issues with the seat. Perfect service, etc. Of course the seats are kind of outdated and I definitely prefer Swiss' 777 F cabin.

Especially if transfering in FRA, but RDU-FRA is not an F destination so that point is moot.

Anyway the big question is, is F better enough than J to justify the price difference, but that is dependent on every travellers budget, so can't really be answered in general.

This is a head scratcher for me, as seat wise, i find both LH and IB to be equally comfortable.

Service on both can be hit or miss, and i agree with posters above that MAD is a nicer airport to transfer than FRA. I would pick LH because you only have two segments and wouldnt need to reposition to ORD.

Are these your only 2 options though, because i can think of better ways of getting from RDU to BCN?

RDU-MIA-BCN on AA or RDU-CDG-BCN on AF are just a couple of examples

thanks - this is incredibly helpful! And I spent ages exploring different options, but IB and LH were BY FAR the cheapest options (points-wise) for the dates I needed.

While LX F is nicer, the 777 is a horrible plane
