Missing baggage question

We had a flight (booked via LH) back from Australia on 13-14 Dec (SYD-SIN-FRA-BLQ) but the last sector was cancelled whilst we were en-route SYD-SIN. On arrival at FRA LH re-routed us with SN via Brussels and we finally arrived in BLQ just over 3hrs behind schedule. However our baggage didnt make the tight schedule at Brussels, so we filed a missing baggage report at BLQ. We flew back home to the UK first thing on 15-Dec before the baggage arrived at BLQ and so SN forwarded it on to LHR late on 15-Dec for delivery to us at home.

There has been no update shown on the baggage tracer website since then and Ive not been able to get in touch with their global baggage info centre (0032 2 723 26 16). Id be grateful if anyone can advise of some way to contact the airline to find out whats happened to our bags - most of our clothes are in there together with a number of Christmas presents!

There is a rather old number in the LH LON info pages:

CENTRALISED BAGGAGE CALL CENTRE FOR ANY LOST & FOUND QUERIES:
TEL: 0871 945 9124
Maybe you could call there? The point of contact is the airport unfortunately, the central call centres will only be able to tell you what you see in the worldtracer.

Thanks Oliver2002, I tried the number and it's now assigned to a hotel in London so no luck there I'm afraid. It seems that the number I was given for their global baggage info centre may have been wrong (an incorrect digit) so I'm now trying to get through on a (hopefully) corrected number. I'll post an update when there's any fresh info.

Is there any current intel on the delayed baggage backlog at FRA?

My friend travelled YUL(AC)FRA(LH)TLV, connecting through FRA on Saturday morning. It wasn't a particularly tight connection, and indeed most of the bags of her group made it to TLV. But hers didn't. Thanks to the Airtag in the bag, she knows it's in FRA and has sat there for almost 3 days now. The baggage tracer just says "tracing continues". There are 3 daily LH flights FRA-TLV and we're wondering why it's not forwarded....

both MUC and FRA have more than 20.000 bags waiting for forwarding so its a bit of a shitshow

Look at the twitter feed of MUC & FRA (or LHR/BA for that matter), the delays/cancellations of Dec 13/14 are still unresolved and people are waiting for their bags... assuming the flights are going out full in the next days the space for additional bags is rather limited...

The TLV flights are indeed chock-a-block. My friend's next destination is ZRH. If she updates the tracer to a ZRH address, will that have an impact on the bag forwarding anytime soon (plenty of flights to ZRH)? Or will it still sit there in FRA baggage hell anyways until the 20'000 bag backlog is cleared?

Who knows... I would assume its been assigned to TLV already and is waiting in the TLV pile (if they have taken it out of the sorting system, that can only accomodate about 60000 pieces total). If its in such a pile, reassigning it to ZRH won't speed up anything because they won't get to it until its fed back in the system.

My experience from a while back:
No info online. Nothing over the phone. Bag showed up a few hours later. Happened twice.

I finally got to speak to a human this morning at the Global Baggage Info Centre to find out that they had closed my file as they thought my bags had been delivered! You simply couldn't make this up. Firstly they re-route us, causing our bags to go astray initially and then they lose them again. This is my second long-haul experience with the LH group and on both occasions my bags have gone astray. It's a real shame as it detracts from the otherwise excellent service that I've received.

I would honestly go to the airport in person. Over the summer my bag was lost FRA-SFO and after pestering their phone line, I was told it would be on the next FRA-SFO flight the following day. I intercepted the bag in the area where baggage is left when it's unclaimed on the carousel, and showed them my original bag tag as if I had just gotten off my flight and left the baggage claim by accident. You should try that route if a roundtrip to the airport isn't cost prohibitive, it's probably just sitting in an office somewhere. Don't wait for Lufthansa to log it in their system.

My partner and I just flew into ORD on a United flight and transferred into Lufthansa to Munich 12/19. My baggage made the transfer but hers didn't. We filled a report and got a World tracer number but it doesn't seem to be updating

I called United and they said they see the luggage never made it off the transfer belt to Lufthansa but there's nothing they can do about it. Lufthansa is making it incredibly hard to contact them.

Anyone got advice here? Or is it just a wait and see...

If only it was that simple. It looks like the bags "might" have been sent via BA, in which case they might be somewhere in the T5 mountain. No point in me turning up at the airport as the baggage pile is all airside so I'd just be wasting my time and getting more stressed. What would be nice is if SN/LH could definitively tell me where the bags are (and have been). What I've been told is very vague and the file on the bag tracer website was closed (I have asked for it to be re-opened). They're really not helping much in demonstrating some form of service restoration given that the issue was originally of their making.

It seems many are chasing their bags. The twitter feed of MUC is full of Indian demanding their bags be sent to Delhi immediately

This story is interesting: Pax booked on LHR-MUC-DEL, gets stranded in MUC on the 14th and 15th, gets rebooked onto EK, misses connection in DXB, stays overnight and reaches DEL the next day. 72h trip instead of 14. Bags nowhere to be found.
