Damn. Up-faring is more complicated than buying an extra bag, so I will just pay this. I am just annoyed with myself that I used an OTA for this trip (and that I booked with LH, not LO). Well everybody makes mistakes.

You have no idea how many hours I was on the phone with UA/SN to find out how much that damn checked bag cost... The answer I got was, "it is determined by the check-in staff and you have no way to pre-purchase it". In the end, the super confused check-in agent didn't charge me for my bag. The only bad thing was that she told me that I brought Mr's passport instead of mine... so I had to call him and he has to express my passport to the airport.

For my short haul flight the online check in service says that I can add the second bag for 70 EUR. Not sure if I can actually do it (as it is an OTA booking and the first thing the page says is that it cannot be modified online, only via the call-center). It also tells me that the second bag will be my last one. More is not allowed.
Now I will first try to pack in a single bag before I experiment with this further
UPDATE: I did pack into a single bag in the end, so I will not learn how this works. No report from me.

Hi All - trying to figure out which Economy fare to buy and it looks like it was made complicated on purpose.
I am LX SEN, looking to buy an intercontinental economy light fare am not sure whether the bag is included or not.Does anyone have any experience on LX intercontinental flights? Thanks!

Another variation here:
Newly-minted *G here, through A3. Just bought GVA-FRA-GIG rtn on LH website. For some reason both outward flights were ticketed with LX flight codes (despite FRA-GIG being obviously operated by LH). All ticketed under 220- stock.
Would I get the free bag, considering it's an "LX" flight, but ticketed and operated by LH?
Bonus question: do travel companions on the same ticket get the baggage allowance (if any)?

If you check in with LH, you will get a free bag.
Travel companions don't get a free bag on economy light fare, even if you do.

Thanks for this. I'll assume the rtn flight is fine (one bag for myself) since it's all LH stock and metal.

No wonder I got my free bag flying UA Y- on SN as the first leg - at CPH LH group has one check-in counter.

Heck they have changed that - I posted in this forum back in March, and back then LH gives 1 free checked bag for *G for European flight only. I was asking people here if I have a 016 BE ticket and LH (CPH-MUC) as my first leg, would I get the bag, and the answer was no - because my destination is not Europe.
I was prepared to pay but since it was LH that handled the check-in I got it for free.

In both outstations and hubs agents just take the bag and book it under the 'check your handbaggage for free' campaign if you ask nicely.
