I think things are settling for the better for me via the Swiss website.

Last week I ended up calling by telephone to Swiss book tickets rather than doing it through the website because the website would not search for flight when I was logged in.

After booking, I was able to:
  • link my booking code to my account on the Android app, but not my account on the website
  • access my profile which, for weeks before was a lottery.
As of today on the website I am able to add my booking code to my account and search for flights.

And finally, it seems to be completely broken.

I cannot log into Swiss.com or Lufthansa.com anymore today with my M&M number. I've tried via multiple browsers and multiple operating systems and also for multiple accounts of the family. I can enter my credentials, but it's not logging me in, and I also cannot log in during the booking process either.

"Computer says no".

The only thing that still works is the Miles and More site, and the Swiss App. - Both of which are ill suited to make all but the most simple reservations.

Did I miss something, and now the Travel ID is supposed to work properly and it became a "must have", and did I also miss something, that the M&M number is not supposed to work anymore?

Same experience, same questions.

Same on the OS website, the apps of all of them work tough.

For the websites using Firefox I can even not get the login mask displayed and with Edge once the password entered it kicks you out again.

LH keeps excelling at all things IT.
I am happy to report that after almost three months, I managed to reset the password, so now I can finally enjoy access to my account again, and all the joys and wonders of Lufthansa Travel ID.

I think LH threatened that if we did not convert to Travel ID our profile would be deleted?

Any word/feedback on that?

What is the diff between travel id and the old miles and more login? Or are they the same?

The M&M login pulls your M&M profile and only shows things you booked with your M&M number in it. Travel ID will show all bookings your made when logged in with the travel ID on LX/SN/OS/LH independent of any FFP entries in your reservations. You can also add reservations you didn't make on the website.

OK - Miles and More sent me an e-mail requesting me to "activate" travel ID on my M&M account.
Couple of questions:
- It forces me to activate the 2 factor identification before I can start the process (no I don't want to)
- I do have an existing travel ID linked to my e-mail adress already. What happens if I use the same e-mail for this process. While this screw everything up (mosts likely) or will the system be so smart in order to recognize and merge these profiles...
Of course no assistance and no FAQ is available from LH.

I simply don't dare to start the process because I am freaking out that I will not able to access my M&M account any more as a result of the process.

OK I did it the other way around: Went to my Travel-ID and then to my profile where there was now an option "link your M&M Account to your travel ID" - hit the button and it worked seamlessly...
So that would be my recommendation....

Now the only thing we are still waiting for is to bring back the travel companions so I can book for the entire family without having to type everything manually

LH go for it!

...and the result: I cannot say my bookings any more. Neither on my M&M profile nor on my travel-ID. Both website crash when I push the link "my bookings"....
So rather wait until they have debugged their system (which will never ever happen)...

I continue to ignore Travel ID. The way LH handles my name and name suffix, it's often a battle to have some bookings show up under my MM number anyway.

In the case of a close friend, as soon as the Travel ID was generated, the proper e-mail address and MM number were associated but the mileage balance showed as 0. After closing down the browser and trying later, the MM number was no longer showing. But it was then impossible to "link your M&M Account to your travel ID" and it remains this way for him, so he still logs on with his service number only (as do I).

BTW I love that Travel ID has a section to insert your non-M&M FFP, but the booking process still doesn't allow you to insert any non-M&M FFP. In fact, it's worse - it took my Eurobonus number and tried to add it automatically as a M&M number.

2-factor authentication

I'm curious (as a 30-year infosec professional) why don't you want to use 2-factor authentication? I'm glad, seeing the massive damage caused year after year after year by inadequate authentication security on websites and services, to see all kinds of online services now making 2-factor the default. (And there's still a massive distance to go, to get it done right so that it adds security - sometimes they do it in ways where it really doesn't - and so that it imposes only the minimum necessary inconvenience - quite often it's done much more intrusively than is needed in order to achieve added security).
