Buy on board coming to LH/OS/LX/EN regional flights in 2021

Buy on board coming to LH, OS and LX

"Our current snack offer in Economy Class does not always meet the expectations of our guests," explains Christina Foerster, Member of the Executive Board Lufthansa Group responsible for Customer, IT & Corporate Responsibility. "The new offer was developed on the basis of feedback from our customers. With the high-quality offer available for purchase, our passengers will be able to decide what they want to eat and drink on their journey."

Great shame; sad to see Swiss in particular go down this route. I'll be steering clear of the LH group moving forward; poor move.

Swiss already piloted this ex GVA... not a big surprise. Once BA started it AF/KL and LHG would follow...

I honestly don’t give a hoot over for one a short haul service. I have no expectations of gourmet dining on a 90 minute A320 hop.

Seriously? Looks like Alex Cruz is working for LH group now...

Unfortunately LH group has decided to follow BA when it comes to short/medium haul catering. I hope also the laughable Skytrax 'downgrade' LH. 5 star airline with BOB is just a bad joke.

I jumped ship from BA to LH/LX because they pulled this rubbish. I guess they're all Ryanair now. Very sad.

Didn't LX already try this before in the mid 2000s?

Next up: "Classic" business class fares without free seat selection and lounge access, based on customer feedback of course.

AFKL thus far has NOT followed. And BA has rolled back on it. On BA, you get a small bag containing a miniature water, a cookie, and a bag of chips (or the like). Furthermore, coffee and tea are free. Also, water and hot water were always complimentary on BA. They won't be on OS.

Of course, the real loss here is in the beverage service. No more free coffee and OJ in the morning. No more free wine or beer in the evening. (Alright, the beer isn't really drinkable but some of the wines aren't bad.)

BA has not rolled back on it. The small bag is only temporary due to Covid 19. Also the water you are referring is the 'airplane water' or whatever is called not individual bottles.

Indeed. BoB on BA was meant to be relaunched in January, but is temporarily on hold due to everyone on furlough.

Erm, no. You didn't get any water of any kind for free when the cart came to your row. If you insisted on getting water, the FAs came back to your seat after the entire BOB service was complete and gave you a cup of whatever comes out the tap in the galley

Currently the BA BOB is suspended and the caterer delivers a bag to be handed out. Once they go back to normal operations, the contract for BOB will be reset.

So the race to the bottom has finally reached LH Group. Don't really care because my flying is mostly over to AFKL now, but I think it is a really bad decision. What does it cost them to serve the rubbish they already serve (sorry, the nice free stuff)? Does it really mean that Austrian will follow suit? Because OS was about the only decent carrier left in LH Group (apart from Air Dolomiti).
And they really treat us like idiots: "The new offer was developed on the basis of feedback from our customers."
