Smile First time flying Lufthansa [FRA-CUN]

Hi all! Long time lurker on this flyertalk, although usually over on the United section.

I am about to fly Lufthansa for the first time this weekend, long haul, LHR-FRA-CUN. I am excited.

I am platinum with United, and I rarely fly in Europe or with EU based airlines (have flown SAS and Swiss, got lounge and early boarding which was awesome) so I am wondering what it is like with LH.

I am also flying with a friend who has a separate ticket and we are sat next to each other which is great.

Wondering to hear about some experiences. Thanks!

ps. fun story! About 2 weeks ago I noticed that we could upgrade to business FRA-CUN for 400GBP which is super, super good! Told my friend about it but wanted to hold off for a few days. I should have trusted my gut feeling and just booked for both of us because next time we looked it was 1500+! Sad times.

You might end up with a full row in Y each ("poor man's business class") since loads are still/again extremely low. You and your friend will have lounge access both in LRH and FRA (don't get too excited about it, downscaled due to COVID-19)

Enjoy your flights.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, aflyingperson!

Since LH has no direct flight FRA-CUN I'm wondering if you are flying LHR-FRA-MEX-CUN. I hopehttps://lh-menu.de/en/download/2020--09-10/E/498P/1 so, as you will not be able to transit in the US at this time.

Assuming you are flying LH498, flights on Friday and Saturday both seem very empty.

P.S. I believe this is the main meal you will get.

Oops! When I searched flightradar24 earlier I couldn't find it but I can see it now. It looks like a seasonal route formerly operated by EuroWings/Cityline on the A343 which I thought had been withdrawn.

According to expertflyer they are only selling one seat in Y booking class but the seatmap looks quite empty. Only a few seats are taken and some are blocked. The menu may be found here: https://lh-menu.de/en/download/2020--09-10/E/514P/2

questions about CUN flights

Hello, I've never flown LH so I'm hoping that someone has time for my questions. I'm considering ARN-FRA-CUN in early Dec or early Jan as it seems to be pretty much the only way to currently get there. Flights seem to be sold for Thu and Sat, is this correct and does anyone know if they are actually flying? Also what are my odds that they won't be cancelled? Are these flights full or fairly empty? I would be flying in economy, what can I expect in terms of food? Is there unlimited refreshments like water, juice etc?
When switching planes in FRA would I need any tests or other paperwork? (since I'm not actually entering Germany)

I normally fly BA, but the UK route is not working and they cancelled their CUN flights.

LH 514 is operating and fairly on time so far:

https://www.flightstats.com/v2/fligh...ing/LH/514/FRA

MX is open to travellers, so I think the flight will stay. Water and juices are available thruout.

The menu shown here: https://lh-menu.de/en will be the same for premium economy and economy only gets the veg option shown there (PE gets a choice and its served in china), so you get an indication what food to expect, some pictures can be found here: LH/LX/LO/OS/SN/OU economy class food

No tests or paperwork in transit at FRA.

Thank you for the fast response The meal photos don't look so great, is it ok to buy something at the airport and bring onboard? Is FRA open in general with food and stores?

Very few stores are open in FRA at the moment, but all offer to-go meals.

Service in Business is normal as before the pandemic.

Small caveats: no predeparture drinks (though I suppose the sanitary wipes can technically count as predeparture alcohol...) and on one of my flights the warm food options were served with the foil covering. But yes, otherwise normal service.
