SN Brussels - is the new, post-coronavirus schedule up-to-date ?

Dear all,

Can you please help me understand if the flight schedule that is currently on SN website is updated and can be safely booked ?

I am looking at booking flights after the restart of operations on 15 June, but on most dates I see the nearly identical schedule to pre-coronavirus times. Since the airline otherwise communicates on restarting on limited schedule, many fewer flights, etc.. I wonder if what is on website now is current after updating or if could be the old schedule just awaiting the rolling cancellations to show (like Easyjet are doing... still today selling flights to TXL for after the announced airport closure date).

Thank you for your help !

Cheers,
J-

I'm seeing the same for Austrian as well. I've taken the plunge and booked a flight for late June, but I'm 100% expecting it to change before I fly it. If you're flexible enough to accept a schedule change, then go for it. If you're at all time sensitive, then I'd definitely wait.

Indeed. I booked one of the OS tickets (CPH-VIE on June 7), which then got cancelled, but faced no issues getting rebooked on a LH connection via FRA. Takes a fair bit longer, but if you have to go from A to B, just book it!

Not sure what's happening. I had booked a flight from Brussels to Berlin on 17th June 2020. When I try to search a flight from Brussels to Berlin for 17th June, I see nothing now. No flight on 18th June either. However, when I try to check the status of my booking, I see my flight has not been cancelled. Maybe they plan to send me on a horse.

Also, the frequency of flights on other days has been greatly reduced.

Whole lot of things to clarify for this one:
- Does SN fly again on that date ?
- What will the schedule be ?
- TXL is closed as of June 15. So will they fly to SXF ? I guess there is a lot to arrange for that (permits etc).

Hence, in this particular case, I assume that there is really a lot of work to be done before they would be able to provide you details about that ticket...

Maybe relevant for this thread too.

I noticed a couple days ago that the flights on my route for the end of June have updated. From two per day to one per day, and that only 3 times per week instead of daily. An increase then from July onwards.

I was lucky and my flight is amongst those gone, but it was still showing in my 'manage booking' page today.

I phoned to try to get it refunded as it is clearly cancelled, but the agent said it is not cancelled but the reason those routes have disappeared is because of it being sold out -- aye, right, sold out on a route that was under 100 euro each a few days ago, to a place not a single European can get in on that date as foreigners are banned.

Brussels hadn't put up an announcement about their new schedule yet so I am hoping that there is just a lag between what you can book and what is actually cancelled, and that I will be able to get this refunded soon enough. But the call and seeing it active online in 'manage my booking' made me nervous.

This is precisely what I feared. The same thing has happened to me. I also thought that they would suddenly pretend that all flights were full.

krishansy May 22, 2020 8:29 pm

So, basically, there were 4-5 flights daily from Brussels to Berlin. Suddenly, there are no flights on 17th June (Wed) and 18th June (The) while there is only 1 flight each on other days. There are still no flights on next Wed but there is one on next Thu. All fares for next week are very low, starting at EUR 35 but still there is only 1 flight on each day except next Wed. So, clearly, demand isn't there and the reason for reduced frequency and no flights on certain days isn't the seats being sold out. If this is their strategy of avoiding paying refunds, this is very sad. Maybe they will update the schedule in coming days and show these flights cancelled. Else, what else can I do? If I take a voucher in the last minute, I will need to fly with them to use it (or maybe I will cancel for a fee).

A lot of flights are not cancelled yet, but set to 0 availability hence agents see them as "fully booked", for instance the SN schedule BRU-BER for the week starting June 15th.

They will roll out the proper cancellation as we get closer to the actual date. Then you will be offered a rebooking or a voucher... and can push for a refund.

Discussions about SN bailout by Belgium are stalled, probably until LH bailout is finalized.
Belgium has not confirmed any date to restart non-essential travel.

Thank you very much. This helped a lot. Wonder whether you can teach me how to pull out this kind of data. Thank you.

fereke May 23, 2020 7:48 am

You can use tools such as ExpertFlyer or KVS Availability Tool :)

Some insight on the life of a network planner at SN right now:

I got my cancellation email today. Phoned to get a refund. It was no issue to get one, but the agent was not able to give me any sort of estimated timescale for how long it might take to get the refund.
