Covid19: Repatriation flights for Polish citizens LOT 8xxx

Any idea why LOT is flying into the Scottish capital this morning (Thursday 19 March)?

You can book seats on the WAW-EDI if you so desire.

I would imagine it's a repatriation flight. Plenty of those at the moment.

Any flight LO8XXX except LO881X are LOT repatriation flights.

There have been a few into LHR too using their regular slots but with LO8XXX flight numbers, all on 787s.

They have been using other slots as well. They never had two in the evening bank.

There are plenty of slots at LHR at the moment! Living under the departure path is quite nice.

There is an amusing post on Airliners.net. The Polish government cancelled Poles cheap Ryanair flights and forced them all to pay 400-500zl to fly back to Poland to support LOT .

How very true!

I think those who held a LO ticket get some kind of offer to fly back, but it does not appear to be free, unless pax had an expensive ticket in the first place, which lets be honest, is unlikely.

LOT have filed evac SYD-WAW. LO8548 blocked at 22hr55. Fare is just under 450EUR. Stops in SYD and is bookable from there, making three LO 787 on SYD-WAW on 29 MAR with flights from CEB, MNL-SIN then HAN-SIN.

I guess the first European Star alliance pax flight to touch down in SYD since OS?

Judging by the number of LOT flights in and out of LHR and LCY today there soon won't be a Pole left in London!

That would explain why the delivery times of online UK supermarkets are being pushed out as far as mid-April.

You mean 23.55 departure from SYD. I wonder how they managed to get a slot during curfew. Normally there are (almost) no exceptions.
