Cityjet wetlease for LH

CityJet wet-leases an Avro RJ85 to Lufthansa for flights to Brussels, Milan and Leipzig

According to the Irish Aviation Research Institute, CityJet Avro RJ85 registered EI-RJU positioned from Dublin to Frankfurt as LH9914 on 18 July 2019. It immediately started a commercial flight (LH1024) to Brussels for Lufthansa.....
The CityJet Avro RJ85 is configured in a dense 6-across layout. A change of comfort level for the regular Lufthansa passenger!

Well, they needed the lift and only had the Choice between cancellation and a wet lease. Acceptable as a short-term solution, as long as they are working on a better fix for the problem.

I have fond memories of my first flight to LCY on a CityLine 146-200, I think around 2007/8. Back was via DUS on an Augsburg Q400, my first flight on that type, with one of the most beautiful FAs I can recall in Europe. Too much for a teenage HL!

I have always found the 146s special and would fly it in a heartbeat.

Not so much an issue with the airplane but with the 3-3 seating. CityJet 3-3 seats are much narrower than the 2-3 many of us remember from LX on the 146 successor RJ85/100.

That‘s true. 3-3 is a sardine can. But the plane as such is fine.

But they have been gone for a long time. Only managed a couple of flights. I think I also flew the 146/RJ on the old Eurowings, before the LH takeover, sometime last century.

I must have flown the LX (2-3 seating) and SN ones (3-3 cramped but otherwise nice leather seats) more than a hundred times. Always trying to avoid the rows under the wing due to lack of overhead locker space.

I almost forgot. But didn‘t fly them much, for the most part LX and a few other carriers. Always found them cute.
