Costly tix vs. low booking class

Costly tix vs. low booking class

Looking up tix for a MEX trip mid-july. I did expect high prices due to a holiday period in Europe, what I did not expect though was that tickets priced €1500+ (and sometimes close to €2000) book into very low booking classes (L for most of them, also at the LH site they show as Economy restricted)... Is this a common occurrence now?

From where to MEX? I can look up historical L fares...

PRG. In recent past, I was flying to MEX for such money in Y+.

I think your problem is that the high season starts on June 27, before that the L fare is half the price (in all years)

OK, that might be the reason, thanks for the clarification. It´s quite hard to keep the allegiance though, as OW carriers have fares around 1000€, ST around 1300 and *A start at 1850 in that period... Nevermind, will then reschedule my travels, as MM-wise I can make a EZE/GRU run in the same period for less money in a 100% earning class.

Because EZE/GRU is low season in July - MEX is high season. Keep in mind that fares are demand driven.

Almost all fares are higher in July and early August due to sommer holidays and peak travel times. But the booking class remainsw the same; there is a considerable difference between a L class fare in low season in January or November and July/August.

Yep, that´s quite clear, my complaint was not that much about actual airfare - which I anticipated to be quite high - as it was about the surprise that for a 2000€ tix I might only earn miserable 25% M.
