Operated by Sunexpress

I have just noticed that several future bookings for TXL-VIE-TXL that were made on OS (so I can collect status credit on TK) have without notification been transferred to Sun Express. Does anyone know what is going on? Will *G cardholders still get extra baggage, lounge and mileage benefits?

OS is wetleasing JP and XG aircraft to cover aircraft and crew shortages this summer. Its a wetlease, so no difference on board.

But OS are actually stating in the booking 'operated by Sun Express Germany'. Is this normal for a simple wetlease arrangement?

Miles will be given by operating carrier = 0 miles for TK or *G cards

Wonder if that would be a valid reason to cancel the booking.....

As per EU regs, OS is required to disclose the carrier operating the aircraft. This has no implications on mileage earning as it's sold and operated under an OS flight number.

Sorry but I doubt that - the operating carrier determines the mileage accrual - so it is not OS any-more...all code-shares have other flight-numbers as well

If it is a wetlease, it will be considered as an OS flight and give the miles, lounge access,...
Just checked a few dates in August: OS273/274 operated by Sunexpress Germany have normal OS flight numbers --> wetlease

Just like Edelweiss or Helvetic operating european routes for LX as a wetlease.

sorry, that's pure B/S. It's a wetlease , nothing else... Considered to be a OS flight for all purposes.

Try taking an Austrian flight operated by Sun Express and you will find that comparisons with Edelweiss are simply not valid. On OS 832 (VIE-TXL) last week, the B737-800 used had the shortest seat pitch I have ever seen - it is normally used on cheapo-cheap charters to Turkey. Business class passengers were victims of the same seat pitch and there was no dividing curtain. The flight was also delayed 1 hour. OS are going to alienate many passengers with such cheap skate behaviour - flights on Sun Express operated routes should be avoided like the plague!

I did not make any comparaison of Sun Express and Helvetic/Edelweiss in means of seat pitch, service,...
I only explained that Sun Express is an OS wetlease like Helvetic (or sometimes Edelweiss) is a Swiss wetlease and that miles would be credited like on OS etc.

OS doesn't have much choice: their F70 and F100 fleet is going inop and needs to be phased out. The E19x transfer from CLH is on track, but not fast enough. There are not many dry- or wetlease operators available in the busy summer months.

Sunexpress 737-800 for Eurowings

Does anybody has experience with these flights?
Do they keep the 29 inch seat pitch in the front rows or is it bigger as it usually is in EW/GW smart class?
In which rows are the emmergency exits?
Im am considering flying DUS-ALC with EW1536.
