Question about blocked seats in Business class before departure
 
We are booked from YVR to Frankfurt in Business Class in 14 days and when we tried to select seats at time of booking it wasn't available yet.
Last I tried to select seats and only one was showing as open which I picked but I couldn't get any other seat as all were blocked.
Called LH and was told that the flight is fully booked and no more seats are available for selection in advance.

Does anyone have experience with seats opening up at online check-in or will it stay all blocked until we get to the airport?
We are mainly concerned because we might not be able to sit together since we were only able to reserve one seat (window).

You can keep checking but anything available will open up at OLCI

Thank you Chris 63, that's what I am doing now. As of today it shows "seat selection unavailable for this flight" when I log in. Hopefully there will be more seats opening up at least 24 hours before departure.

Any seats blocked for SEN/HON that have not yet been taken will become available at OLCI.

Weird. All LH493 flights May 19-21 show open seats in business.

I have friends flying out from Tampa to meet us in Europe on May 20th and they have a similar situation. Would it be possible to see availability on that day for the TPA -FRA flight, LH 483. They are also in Business Class.
