Goodbye LSG? [divestiture of Skychef & associated catering go-slow/strike activities]

Looks like Lufthansa is looking to sell LSG and Do&Co and Gategroup might bid for the business:

I was aware that something like this would happen in the near future.

Lufthansa started to contract other catering companies in some outstations where LSG Sky Chefs have facilities.
FE: In IAD, LH caters from the Flying Food Group while some carriers such as Alaska Airlines still use LSG Sky Chefs over there.

I even prefer it to the overhyped Do&Co operation at the FRA FC facilities.

The presence of Louise makes any room a better place, but I also like the food better. Maybe because I am Bavarian ...

The food is excellent & they do ensure local delicacy’s, it’s unbeatable the way it is so I’m hoping it remains as it is.

The board cleared the process to invite bids for the complete or partial spin off of LSG. It seems the ideal partner for LH would one that has catering experience (a clear hint for Do&Co). Only 20-25% of LSG's business is to supply LH group operations. Curious to see what happens with LSG subsidiaries like Spiriant.

Catering issues 29 June 2019 FRA airport for LH flights

Apparently a “breakdown of the catering” system meant that there was reduced catering all day out of FRA for LH flights today, 29 June 2019.

Anyone know the root cause of this?

Easy. They reduced catering from mediocre food to no food!

Still, no worries if you can eat in the lounge and drink champagne in the air.

Some of us can enjoy the F lounge facilities so we are fed properly, I pity those less fortunate

Just took 2 LH short European flights in business class today. It’s apparently a strike from the catering staff at FRA but the official version is “catering issue due to shortage of staff”. None of the crew on board or at the lounge mentioned strike but when I asked if it actually was one they nodded.... and it’s on until Monday July 1st. I was advised at the senator lounge to write to customer service and ask for refund/ compensation.

On board it’s plastic glasses in J and small sandwiches. Water, coke and coffee tea only. Not sure there’s sandwiches in economy. Apparently long haul flights do have some better catering in all classes.

So it seems that the gourmet cheese/pastrami sandwich(es) have made it to the front of the bus today.

And maybe made before the strike, so even less palatable
