To translate and summarize the current status:
- Apparently somebody managed to evade security screening and enter the terminal (they had to be re-screened but entered the terminal)
- Section A of Terminal 1 (the main terminal of FRA) has to be cleared and searched before anyone can re-enter
- Parking garages surrounding the airport have just been shut down – no arriving travelers can enter them any more.

The following was Posted by Lufthansa on their facebook feed.
Current Travel Information:
Operational flight schedule disruptions for flights to and from Frankfurt on 7th August
In area A of Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport, police action is being taken. This includes an immediate boarding stop and evacuation of the security area on levels 2 and 3 (gates A and Z). We can't say anything more about delays and flight cancellations yet. Lufthansa flights departing from terminal areas B and C are not affected. You can find the terminal area on your boarding card.
Traffic obstructions on the access roads to Frankfurt airport. Please, if possible, use suburban trains 'S-Bahn'. Timetable information: http://www.bahn.de/en
We are in close contact with the authorities and the airport. We will inform you as soon as we have further information.
You will find more information and updates here: https://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/Travel-information.

There has got to be a better way to mitigate the risk and address the issue than to shut down the entire airport for reboarding.
If anything, couldn't they at least isolate the intra-EU/overseas sections to not have to be rescreened? Unless you think the person got through, transferred something to someone else, and that has to be protected against.
Maybe gates that come down and close off sections of the terminal so you can save some people / flights / operations from having to completely shut down?

According to local radio:
https://www.ffh.de/nachrichten/hesse...eigegeben.html
The issue was because a French family tested positive for explosives but were allowed to continue and exit security without being retested. This has been stated as human error.
The family were later interviewed and allowed to continue but the incident is not considered to be their fault.
It says 13,000 passengers were impacted, and Lufthansa have booked 2,000 hotel rooms to accommodate passengers overnight.

Real story officially tweeted by police is that a screener let a French family of four go despite having tested positive for explosives. So blame falls squarely on the screener.
LH is completely incompetent. They cancelled the US flights due to spoiled food, while UA flights took off regardless.
after 3 hours wait at Senator service counter, my wife could only be booked home 2 days from now, they refused to release luggage, and to add insult to injury refused hotel, meals, transportation. No mentioning of EC compensation either.

In the event of such a disruption, is there any cross-honoring of tickets within Germany between LH and DB? Could displaced pax be rebooked on the trains serving Frankfurt airport, or even Frankfurt Hbf?

As long as they are putting her on the next available flight, I think they are required by EU261 to cover hotels/meals/transportation (duty-to-care). If they are refusing you might need to book it yourself, keeping receipts and seek reimbursement after getting home. You aren't due any financial compensation aside from food/lodging due to a security breach being "extraordinary circumstances".
