A replacement A340-300 registration D-AIGP departed with a delay of two hours.
...and a delay of just over one hour on arrival, pretty impressive on the whole

Indeed. I have no clue about how serious the damage to the plane was. Hopefully someone in the know will chime in.

Not a good day for the 3rd-party liability insurer of the tow truck. (I'm guessing that's who will pay for at least part of the bill.)

Well that does not look good at all, could very well be a hull loss. Perhaps not entirely bad for LH, depending on what the insurance payout may be.

It's a 343, I mean, it's not gonna be missed all that much, could be worse...

That's what I thought. An 18 year old gas guzzling 4 engined plane. If it had to happen to any, then this was probably one of the best!

I’m sure LH is thrilled D-AIFA is toast, as long as they are fully insured

I dunno, fairly sure some estate agents would call that a "fixer upper"...!

Unfortunately they are not. It‘s a City Line A343 and while LH has plenty of spare A346, which City Line cannot fly because of contract issues, the A343 will be missed. Despite the bad reputation the A343 has here on FT.

2000 reg so I think we've seen the last of her. Looks like a definite write-off. LH may not be too chuffed by losing a plane in this fashion but the insurer is probably crying more at this stage.

So the Cityline flight to SJC will now be a A350?

Most definitely not, as the SJC flight is from/to FRA and all LH A350 are based at MUC.
