Does LH or Swissport operate those tow vehicles? I recall FRA busses and tows being outsourced to Swissport or somebody else - Fraport?. If that is the case, that is a hefty insurance claim on the ground handling company by LH's insurance carrier. No too often one would think their car insurance needs to cover a 300 million euro airliner. Ouch.

Towing in FRA is done by LEOS, a subsidiary of LH Technik: https://www.lufthansa-technik.com/lufthansa-leos

Founded in 1995, Lufthansa Engineering and Operational Services GmbH (LEOS) is a fully owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG that specializes in ground services at the major German airports. Its core competencies include aircraft towing, Crew transportation and maintenance service for ground support equipment and vehicles.

It was tongue in cheek, but you could say that paying out for those unfortunate events puts a dent in the stable profits they earn from their normal business model - which is interest arbitrage.
