When you reach 80k select miles, you get the possibility to exchange up to 20k award miles for up to 10k status miles at a ratio of 2 award miles for 1 status mile.

With the M&M credit card, the same possibility exists but at a ratio of 5 award miles for 1 status mile. In addition, you need to have accumulated the award miles that you intend to exchange (up to 25k) with your credit card.

According to this post in the thread I linked upthread, the option only seems to be available to FTL and not to SEN. The OP is already SEN according to the profile.

A friend of mine who was missing out on SEN requlification last year also got the elect miles 2:1 offer. He didn't need it because of the strike 10k gift...

So let's cross the finger for the LH strike? With a plan B which is mileage run....
Also, I'd like to have your senior member's confirmation: my actual SEN will expire after 02/2019. If I succeed to requalify this year, my status will last till 02/2021?
Thanks

Correct!

I think it's unlikely you will be offered the option to convert award miles into status miles this year since your status does not expire in February next year.

Some update:
I have upgraded the return legs of my last biz trip in 2017 from SQ Eco->PE, using my own cash. This return trip EU/FarEast can bring me about 25K on M&M. So theoretically per my calculation I could renew my SEN with 100600 miles. SQ 100%earning flights are my salvation, not the LH strike. LOL...

I don't know where you pay taxes, but in Germany you would be able to claim the fee for upgrading as an expense on your tax declaration ("Werbungskosten") and reduce your taxable income.

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately I don't pay tax in Germany.

Update 2:
status renewed with 100677 miles, against 100600 per my calculation.
however, the expiration of my SEN is still showing 02/19, but not 02/21 as expected
so when the expiration date will be updated, by 31/Dec?

Almost the end 2017 and noticed I am 140 miles short to achieve the senator status.
Didn't receive an offer to exchange miles.
Would be really painful to miss out on Senator status while I came so close...

Somebody can help with a workaround? Don't feel like doing a millage run, it's about the only time in the year I get to spend 2 week with my falmily...
I've read somewhere the Lufthansa express train might be an option, but I don't seem to be able to book it.
Any other ideas?

Your tips are welcome

AFAIR train only works as a feeder leg. 140 would be any direct turnaround on LHG..
The exchange offer is 5:1 on the M+M card or 2:1 if you've over 80,000 *Select* miles.
LH wont be gratious, so book a short flight :-(

Even 5:1 would still be ok, as I am only 140 short.
But how do I get that offer, I only have M&M amex card...
