LH Cityline A343

Looking to book a flight to TPA on the newly launched flights of LH. Is there already a seatmap available for the high density A343 that will operate this route? It's the first time to travel longhaul with the entire family (me, my wife and kids of 4 & 1), any seat recommendations in Y-class?

Thanks!

Its just the regular LH 343 with a very small C cabin (2-3 rows) and Y starting after door 2. The usual seating guidelines apply.

Do a dummy booking for your selected date and flight and a seatmap with plenty of $$$-spending options should appear. Wonder how many categories of ASR there is going to be on Eurowings (Extra-Legroom, Front Row, Window, Standard; all with different prices )

D-AIGP is currently busy on training flights with new CLH pilots in Karlsruhe and in Schwerin next week. As part of the VC strike talks LH offered to limit 'JUMP' CLH 343 to 5 aircraft only, maybe this is showing in the schedules now.

Interesting.... MRU/MLE/CUN show as LH operated. TPA is still CL.

I heard today the rumour that the ne NBO flights are now to be operated by Privateair instead of Cityline. Due to loads or do the rumours about JUMP prove to have been correct?

NBO was never meant to be a JUMP destination. Jump/CL 343 are due to fly to MLE/CUN/TPA/MRU/PTY.

Do Lufthansa "Cityline" A340s offer the same business product as the mainline?

I was about to book a flight today when I noticed that the A340-300 on the route was listed as "Operated by Lufthansa Cityline" and only had 18 seats in business according to the seat map.

Please forgive my ignorance, but do the "Lufthansa Cityline" long-haul routes offer the same hard and soft products as Lufthansa's mainline? Ex. Will the seats be the full-flat new generation? And will the meals, amenity kit, etc be the same?

Thanks in advance for any info you have!

Cabin/seating/IFE is the same, just a small business class and the galleys are setup differently to cater for the larger economy cabin.

FAs are mainline LH, flight deck is Cityline, ie E190/CR9 pilots trained to fly A343.

Thanks for the info oliver2002! Good to know that it isn't the old hard-product.

Whoa. That's a big step up from regional jets doing short-haul hops. Definitely a bit concerning that they don't use the mainline flight crews who probably have more long-haul wide-body experience...

The idea is exactly not to use the main line flightcrews. The pilots on the mainline are causing quite a bit of the problems. I however agree to your concern. An A340 is a different animal compared to an E190.

LH was acutely aware of that and made sure they passed the tests In fact last year there was quite a stir in the press about CL pilots failing the A340 conversion/rating tests. To me it was an indication that LH didn't take the retraining lightly

I agree that they did not take the retraining lightly. It still is however a big difference to fly such a bird with the joystick in calm weather or on the flight simulator or to bring such big bird through real trouble. I recently flew an A380 fortunately only on a flight simulator and I did very well. Hopefully LH will not allow me to take the left seat on a bird like this.

Trust me they don't pass your conversion training just in a simulator with fair weather in 5 min.
