I am traveling with kids and seniors on LOT later this week. I tried to pay to pre-assign seats using the "My Favourite Seat" link on lot.com, but it only brought me to the usual "Booking Details" page that doesn't allow you to change anything. I sent them a Facebook message and got only this reply:
The "here" in "select them here" was not a link or anything, just that bare text.
I guess I will have to try calling. Pretty disappointing.
Hello, selecting seats in economy class is a chargeable service. You can select them here or over the phone. It is always possible to choose a seat free of charge 36 hours before departure, but only from the seats that remain available. //Agnieszka

Scroll down - if you have purchased the tickets via lot.com there will be another (working) link at the bottom of the 'Booking Details' page. If you have not purchased via lot.com - from my experience - this link is not shown and you need to call the contact center or go via the travel agency that issued the ticket.

The "here" refers to the facebook chat. They can reserve seats for you, though I don't know how they collect. I think just by charging the same payment method you used to pay for the ticket.

Closing the loop, the system did automatically assign us four seats together, the middle four in a 2-4-2 configuration. Thanks again for everyone's input.

Seating question with LOT Polish Airlines
Hello everyone,
Basically, I am due to fly with LOT Polish Airlines to Warsaw on the 3rd of July on flight LO286.
Seating is very strange with LOT as of now, I originally booked myself 6A, but then LOT moved the business class curtain which placed me in 9A unfortunately.
Now, I look at expertflyer and I see that almost the whole aircraft is blocked (INCLUDING 9B and 9C) apart from like two seats, so I check LOTs website by making a "fake" booking (because as typical with LOT, you cannot change seats after booking / see the seat plan thanks to the dodgy website) and the seat next to me is blocked (9B), but not 9C on the LOT website.
Does anyone know what any of this means? Departure is quite soon so I'd assume the aircraft is mostly booked out now. My seat is circled in blue!
Thank you in advance.

I will preface this by saying that I’m only responding based on my own personal experience on LOT. I don’t know the technical ins and outs of how seating works.
If you’re trying to grab a seat without a neighbor my advice is just to ignore the seat map until just before boarding starts. Luckily you can go back through mobile check in and change your seat up until the last minute.
My experience is that blocking is completely random. Even as a HON expertflyer has shown the seat next to me blocked, only for it to be filled during check in (I’m talking even on a GDN-WAW flight that was maybe 60% full).
I’d expect the LHR flight to be pretty full though so there’s not much that you can do
