I'm booked on MUC-BOS in May in A346 F FWIW, so looks like it comes back sometime in spring.

It will be a daily A346 from Mar 31 2019. JFK (daily), ORD (3x weekly) and MEX (3x weekly) out of the North American destinations will also get F back from next year's summer timetable on when MUC gets most of the A346s back from FRA.

I have been surveying F fares for a trip next spring, and wonder what others observations have been regarding LH's pricing practices. My trip is ORD-BCN and returning VCE-ORD. A restricted F ticket was pricing out at around 6k for the past 3 months (with only one blip up before it reset to 6k), but about 2 weeks ago the fare jumped 22% to 7.3k........ maybe I missed my window, maybe not. When the price flipped up, it was about 130 days until my departure date (which is not movable). Anyone have any experience/knowledge that if seats in F still go unsold that LH will drop the fare to sell the seats, and about how many days out from the departure date may they to try incentivize buyers into F.

unlike Y/C fares, there are much less buckets and fares in F so not too much variety in pricing. The cheap ones have an advance booking timeframe (depending on the market up to 60 days).

obviously, no way to guarantee but I would not count on cheaper fares and book now.

Just my two cents, but I've noticed at the 14 day mark miles based F opens up if the cabin is undersold alot more than usual. I've done low level miles awards the last two years MIA-FRA in F it always opens up between 2 weeks and a day if F is undersold. ( I measure undersold as I get on the plane and there are still one or two seats visibly empty and speaking with some of the very few pax up there in addition to my miles tick I always find at least one more last minuet F upgrader. I found MIA-MUC with a fair amount of availability this year as well around the 2 weeks mark. I dont know if this translates into discounts at the rev ticket level though.

ShadesofGrey.... thank you for your insights. My trip is part of my package with a cruise line that includes business class on transatlantic legs and I don't know if they would let me do my own air at the 2 week before departure date and still receive a credit for not using their air.... and Mrs B does not have the tolerance to roll the dice and hope we can snag a miles based F option (additionally, we would be using a *A award since most of my miles are tied up in UA's MP) Of course I would love to do F in the nose of 747-8 for ORD-FRA, but I will tough it out on the upper deck.

I am trying to book for me and my company CEO couple of trips from ORD to the middle east in F class during different times in the summer season (June-Sep) for every month a round trip for one week.

To my surprise LH has removed F cabin to all middle east destination (RUH and JED and DXB) during the summer schedule!

Is that correct or there is a problem with my booking engine?

Highly doubt any issues with your ability to book, very much reduced F these days on LH

The wiki-post at the top of this thread confirms your suspicion that does not offer much F to the Middle East anymore. How about LX?

Even though LX fly only to DXB and MCT.

Unfortunately, that‘s all the LH Group F we get to the Middle East now. But the connection DXB-ZRH-NorthAmerica is usually pretty good to many destinations, with just enough layover to freshen up and/or take a nap at the great FCL in E.

The wiki and chart above seem to be missing DTW-FRA as an F route. I rebooked my BOS-FRA award to DTW, was able to get 3 seats yesteday, and there's more open -- seems to have great availability most days. (Of course, now I have to get to Detroit. In the winter.) Is this a new F route? It's served by an A346.

Spohr let out some details at a employee townhall meeting recently:

All A380 and B748 will retain F.

Current batch of A359 deliveries will not get F. The next batch that was ordered last week may get F, but that delivery schedule is post 2023. As A359 replace the A346 in MUC over the next few years, those routes will lose F. FRA will get A359s from the current deliveries beyond the A346 replacements and post 2023 for A343 replacement.

B789 will not get F.

50% (previously 66%) of longhaul will be offered with a F cabin.

New F is in planning, seats maybe based on the LX platform to get commonality. As part of this planning they are looking at a F cabin that only has 4 or 6 seats.

Thank you very much for the summary.

Didn‘t feel like pressing the „like“ button, as I like F out of MUC.
