LH booking engine glitch?

I'm doing a very basic search on LH's website:
19 Dec - 21 Dec, return flight BHX-DRS

Clicking "Search with more options" and then
selecting "I would like to have the flexibility to change the sequence of my flights"

It returns flight options, with prices, but says there is no availability.

When searching on Expedia, it tells me they've searched over 400 options and have no results.

Is something going on with Lufthansa's systems? Am I doing something wrong?

Surely you are not going to pay 1,029.14 GBP one way between BHX and DRS! Why would you want to change the sequence of the flights?

The most expensive Economy return (on random flights) I can find on the dates chosen is Economy Flex (No rebooking fee, Refund fee: 120 EUR) at 448.44 GBP booking into W and K.

If you want to book fully flexible Economy tickets you may have to contact a TA. The online LH booking engine is not flexible enough. If you are booking closer to departure, e.g. this week, Economy Flex books into B* and costs more (911.84 GBP return) but not as much as 1,029.14 GBP one way!

* This Economy Flex ticket can be changed without fee provided the original booking class is still available. Otherwise the fare will be recalculated and any fare difference may apply.

No, I wouldn't pay this, but I've not seen the booking engine go wacky like this before. As I said, Expedia doesn't even return results. When I search from LHR, Expedia shows flights in Y class until you choose to price it all out and then it changes to more reasonable fare classes. So it's better but still strange things going on. My corporate booking engine is the same--showing results that seem very expensive for some of the most restrictive fare classes.

I also hope some of the very expensive fares on intra-European flights at the moment are a glitch.

A fare which allows the flexibility to change the sequence of flights is not the same as a changeable/refundable fare. LH has come up with the 'coupon fare' in response to court ruling but I doubt if they expect anyone to actually pay for such a fare. If you skip a segment LH might recalculate the fare based on the coupon fare.
