If and when a particular strike begins and flights are actually beginning to be cancelled, you can call LH and ask for a rebooking/rerouting.
LH usually rebooks to other LH Group carriers, any star alliance carrier or other IATA airline it has an interline agreement with. The preference to do so is in the same order and done only if the preferred alternative doesn't have any free seats in the class of service (not booking class). Award bookings are treated the same way, although you may be requested to contact the issuing carrier for reissuing the ticket. LH issued tickets are usually reissued using the ATC irreg system.

Against the background of the announced strike by the Independent Flight Attendant’s Organization (UFO) on Lufthansa flights on Thursday 26th of November, Friday, 27th of November and Monday, 30 of November 2015, Lufthansa is trying to keep the effect of the strike on its customers as low as possible.

Lufthansa returns to almost normal operations from Saturday onwards

After the end of the longest strike in the company’s history, Lufthansa will already return to almost normal operations on Saturday and will offer its customers the usual service as soon as possible.
All scheduled long-haul connections will be able to operate on Saturday. Furthermore the long-haul connections from Frankfurt to Hong Kong, Singapore, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo, which were scheduled to take off on late Friday evening, will be delayed to Saturday morning. Thus a cancellation of these connections can be avoided.
Lufthansa will also return to almost normal operations on short- and medium-haul flights on Saturday. Due to operational reasons, there can be occasional flight cancellations, if the aircraft or crews are not yet at the site of operation.
Lufthansa would like to sincerely apologize again to all customers, who have been affected by the strike of the Independent Flight Attendant’s Union (UFO) during the past days. The company has done its utmost to keep the effects on their customers as low as possible.
Altogether the company was forced to cancel approximately 4,700 flights during seven strike days. Affected by these cancellations were approximately 550,000 passengers.

Due to the strike actions Lufthansa has to cancel 126 long-haul and 10 continental connections resulting in about 27.300 passengers being affected by flight cancelations. Nearly all German and European continental flights will be operated as scheduled.

LH usually rebooks to other LH Group carriers, any star alliance carrier or other IATA airline it has an interline agreement with. The preference to do so is in the same order and done only if the preferred alternative doesn't have any free seats in the class of service (not booking class). Award bookings are treated the same way, although you may be requested to contact the issuing carrier for reissuing the ticket. LH issued tickets are usually reissued using the ATC irreg system.

Just last week, on LH 400 (A380), the FAs offered their so called "signature service", first of a kind on A380. The supervisor on flight said that this service will be rolled out to all 380s this year starting September. Idea is to give special personal attention to every business class passenger. Now, as a traveler, this confuses me. An airline is vouching to offer the best service from folks who by the way are threatening to strike. I don't know who is right or wrong here but for a consumer, it sends a wrong message. You do not advertise about a new signature service and then boom - hit with strikes by the same folks who promise to provide you with that signature service.
Sorry, as you can tell, I'm getting sick of these strikes. Is this something that happens with every airline? I don't remember hearing about strikes with other top airlines.

Well that's great, middle of the July holiday travel season, when I am already in Hong Kong. Anyway, I booked all with other carriers, for I have a couple of short trips around Europe first. I mean, who would want to pay the stupid prices with Germanwings to go to Madrid for utter non-service (baggage extra, food extra, seat extra, credit card fee extra, all of which when added together make it a really stupid price) when you can book LAN Airlines in business class from FRA for €169? Needless to say, Lufthansa was also much cheaper than 4U.
Now, I just have to hope that the French behave themselves. There is an ATC strike coming up, and I'll be in Paris at one point (not to mention flying over France to get to Madrid).
