Being a violinist I am really looking forward to this change... I fly LH Group a lot, and they never actually officially produced an exception for our old musical instruments, which are irreplaceable if broken. It's already pretty .... for us to board as we are so dependant on there being space and an understanding GA/CC... Sad that LH doesn't see a possibility of giving free bag perks to status customers like AF did.

It's all about disclosure. By way of example DL's rock bottom E fares, described above, appear in a separate column and with a warning. If you book one, it's not because the restrictions are buried.
These represent good value for people who don't care for anything other than transportation from A to B. There are people who are on tight budgets and are quite happy to be assigned a middle seat at check-in and manage to pack just a simple carry-on.
Needless to say, the greatest risk is that there are no changes permitted of any kind. Thus, if you do need to take a later flight, you must buy an entirely new ticket.

I do not recall an instance where I was allowed to keep my stool. But then HONs are very different animals from SENs...

But what about price?
For example, now I fly always 4U HAM-MXP, LH would be better as it flies to LIN instead of MXP (LIN is far better for me than MXP) but no chance to get it under 160/180 Euro (of course with connection in FRA).

I doubt LH will undercut 4U on HAM-MIL
The eco light fares will probably hover around the 99/109 rt mark for non-stop flights...

This new rule will have many side effects. It will be the same sh... as when we are travelling in US.
- cabin will be overcrowded with a longer boarding process
- PA on the ground will have to play the Police and tell which luggages fits or not they will be "ready for the fight" so it won't be a friendly experience
- on some flight customers will have to check their luggages at last minute if the overhead compatment is full
- The cabin will be messy with plenty of luggages
Thanks for this improvement !!!
