MUC Terminal 2 Satellite

Not sure if anyone saw the article in the Münchner Merkur, but they discuss the new satellite terminal (sorry only in German):

Interesting is they mention 5 new lounges, and connection will be a driverless subway which takes 40 seconds.

Expected to be finished 3rd quarter 2015, so about a year from now.

The project is moving along. The gates will be operational for trial runs in Q3, proper full opening only in Q2/2016.

Current plans are to make the US departures to move to the satellite.

Wonder how this would affect the awesome 30min MCT that MUC currently enjoys.

New satellite building to open at Munich airport with twice the lounge space

Lufthansa will open a new satellite building at Munich airport in April 2016. The airline has announced that they would use the opportunity to add another five lounges spanning 4,000 sq. ft. basically doubling the current lounge space.

Even more surprising, in light of the reduction in First Class capacity system wide: there will be a new, second First Class lounge, at the top of the building.

It will be nice to have lounges with a view in MUC. :p The only view that you currently get is that of security/passport control area from the non-Schengen SEN lounge as far as I know. :D

The trial dates are out and registration for dates are open: http://www.munich-airport.de/de/comp...ieb1/index.jsp

I registered for January 26.

So, its delayed by half a year?

About 1 year late:
2011:
http://www.merkur.de/lokales/erding/...n-1285331.html

„Zum Sommerflugplan 2015 soll der Satellit, der durch eine führerlose U-Bahn ans T 2 angebunden wird, in Betrieb gehen.
2015:
http://www.merkur.de/lokales/erding/...s-4210135.html

T2S - no more limousine service?

Hello, I was recently told by a driver of the FCL in Munich that with the extension in Terminal 2, all HON and First Class guests are supposed to take also the underground conveyor belt passenger moving system (or whatever it is called) just like any other passenger. Not sure what kind of inconvenience it is but it sure is a bit disappointing. There will be almost no outside positions anymore as so many gates are added so they practically plan to give up the limousine service. Can anyone confirm?
