BRU-ORD in C with upgrade to F: what to choose
 

I need to fly BRU-ORD. I can fly on 3rd Nov or 4th Nov but I have to be in ORD by 4PM on 4th. I can book business flex (C or D)

I can fly on the 3rd via MUC on LH434. Upgrade to F is already available.
I can fly on the 4th via ZRH on LX8. Upgrade to F is not available at this stage. LH434 not an option that day as I would arrive too late in ORD

Flying on 4th would be better but what are the chances an upgrade becoming available on LX8? Would you prefer to fly LH F or LX F?

I would take what you get confirmed right now! LH via MUC. For my opinion, both F-cl are more or less on the same level.

Please also mind that LX8 will arrive at 15:55 in ORD, so it's only leaving you 5 minutes of time reserve to your set arrival time... You would be on the safer side if you take LH on the day before ;).

Why not save some time and connection risk by taking the UA nonstop? Arrives 1340. (I know its UA and not LH, but other than that....:))

LH might be on strike....

Lx8 is widely available for mikes upgrade. Remember that LX books upgrade on A class not in O.
If lh is with old F i would go lx withouth doubt

If you want to fly F and F is bookable (under your preconditions) on LH take LH on the 3rd. Also for the sake of the time buffer.

Spending some time in the FCL in MUC should not to be bad, either.

I did not know that. But when I do a search for award booking on Tue 4/11 for ZRH-ORD, lufthansa.com does not show any availability even though the flight is A8...

Award is in O, Upgrade in A.

...and LX F-Awards are not shown online even to SEN/HON.

So only call to M&M will tell you the truth?

At least they can tell you the truth, don't know if they will do so;)
