Still waiting to one day see "Mutmaßlichem Flug-Kartell drohen Bußgelder in Milliardenhöhe". If the German automobile industry has been doing it, the German airlines probably have as well.

I'm a bit surprised that they open up DUS right next to CGN as a second longhaul base instead of MUC/TXL/HAM. Let's see if they keep this or only do DUS as long as the charter market demands DUS for those tours already booked from DUS on AB for the winter/summer 2018 season.

If they keep DUS in the long run we might see something as an LTU revival... ;-)

DUS will get ex LH A343 to be operated by SN for EW:

Brussels Airlines would get two Airbus A340 aircraft to be operated from Summer 2018 on long-haul routes to North America on behalf of Eurowings. The initial destinations will be New York JFK and Los Angeles. The number of A340 aircraft could be increased to six in 2019.

These aircraft, coming from the current Lufthansa fleet, will be painted in Eurowings colours and will be based in Dusseldorf.

Lieflat Business Seats on Longhaul Eurowings / Düsseldorf over Cologne

In a short Wirtschaftswoche-article they are writing, that Lufthansa is planning to add Lieflat Seats "quality close to Lufthansa" to the Eurowings Longhaul fleet, in addition to their actual Economy-plus-style chairs.

That is a very good idea indeed!

Stationing most longhaul Eurowings planes in Düsseldorf will be for the reason, that Düsseldorf allows higher fares than Frankfurt, Wirtschaftswoche adds.

DUS will get 4 SN aircraft that have C, LH will restart some LH longhaul routes like they had before (to EWR, YYZ, ORD etc).

D-AIGY (A343 previously operated by CL under JUMP) is now in FCO to get EW retrofit and livery to operate as EW op by SN next year.

The 7 EW A332 had a crappy December: at least two were AOG most of the time and one A332 is in MLA in what seems to be an epic long heavy check. So exotic carriers like Air Tanker (A330 MRTTs) and LOT B788 had to help out.

Longhaul wings also got its wings clipped by the US DOT: no more EW op by Sunexpress to the US: https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...ease-a-456038/

That said its probably an excercise in futility as SN with operate EW longhaul to the US.
