LH F 744 where does it fly ?
Hi guys,
Having never flown LH before and keen to try the FCT I am keen to try both.
Looking at pics it seems that the "old" 744 F (seat plus bed combo) is slowly being replaced by only a seat that's used in the 388 and 748 ?
Isn't the seat and combo better than just a seat which every other airline had ? For me I always thought the combo was the differentiating factor, a novelty, something new and unique. Or isn't the combo all that good ? Can those who have tried both commented on which was better and pros and cons etc ?
And finally. Where does the 744 fly ?
I am planning a US trip for next year and want to come home and thinking of something like JFK-FRA-XXX and then find my own way back from XXX (somewhere in Asia?) to MEL using LM/AA/QF etc.
Thanks

The F on the 744s will be removed starting this fall and gone by next summer. They will remove F completely and only offer C/E/Y on those aircraft.
Routes to which the 744 currently operate with the new seat/bed combo can be found here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/lufth...it-thread.html

According to that thread:
744 : 17 retrofitted all based in FRA:
D-ABTK, D-ABTL, D-ABVH, D-ABVK, D-ABVL, D-ABVM, D-ABVN, D-ABVO, D-ABVP, D-ABVR, D-ABVS, D-ABVT, D-ABVU, D-ABVW, D-ABVX, D-ABVY and D-ABVZ.
The following B744s have not been retrofitted and will not be retrofitted:
D-ABTF and D-ABTH.
Does that mean that D-ABTF and D-ABTH (EWR and YYZ) routes will remain with the bed and seat combo ?

The other 13 have the new F with one fixed proper bed and a seat beside it.
TF & TH will be gone for part out and scrap sometime in December 14, the others will be refitted without F by May 2015.

No TF and TH have the previous F dating from 1998, with only seats, no bed. Each F pax gets two old F seats, one to lounge in, the other to sleep in.

I thought that was the old F and that the new F is what currently appears in the 388/748 ?

The bed is new, the seat is just a newly upholstered version of the 1998 Recaro F seat. The IFE on the 744 is the 2003 vintage R-C eTes which was meant for a different resolution so it doesn't look so good on the large screen.

The seat also appears much smaller as it is positioned miles futher forward in the suite. In my experience the bed on the 744 was much superior but I preferred everything else on the newer style product I flew in the 333.

I am one of the fans of the single seat over the seat and bed combo. I found for all practical purposes, I wasn't hopping back and forth between the seat and bed and found the turn downed bed just as comfortable as the mattress is very well padded.
Excited to try the 388 next week. Still grinning with joy I was able so score two seats on the Singapore flight!
