Erste zum Frachter umgebaute Airbus A321 fr Lufthansa CityLine ist in Deutschland angekommen

Im vergangenen Juli hatte Lufthansa Cargo bekanntgegeben, ihr europisches Netzwerk, das derzeit durch Passagierflugzeuge und Road Feeder Services RFS bereitgestellt wird, durch ein kontinentales Frachtangebot ergnzen zu wollen. Denn das Unternehmen sieht attraktive Marktchancen im europischen Luftfrachtverkehr, die durch das starke Wachstum des eCommerce und die hohen Anforderungen beim Transport von Gtern wie Pharmazeutika und Automotive getrieben werden. Das Wachstum fr grenzberschreitende eCommerce-Sendungen wird mit etwa 20 Prozent pro Jahr fr die kommenden fnf Jahre prognostiziert. Konsumenten erwarten immer krzere Lieferzeiten fr ihre bestellte Ware. Dadurch steigt auch innereuropisch der Bedarf von Flugverbindungen in der Luftfracht. Fr dieses ergnzende kontinentale Frachtangebot sollten Airbus A321 zum Einsatz kommen, umgebaut zu Frachtern und betrieben von Lufthansa CityLine. Zwei Maschinen wurden davon zunchst geplant und Cargo wie CityLine haben seither sehnschtig auf ihr erstes Baby gewartet.

Am Sonntagabend um 20.39 Uhr war es dann soweit: Touch-down fr die D-AEUC, das erste Frachtflugzeug in der Geschichte der Lufthansa CityLine, das die Airline im Auftrag von Lufthansa Cargo betreiben wird. Strahlend wei, schlank und elegant steht sie nun auf dem Vorfeld in Mnchen. Genau 29 Stunden bentigte die Uniform-Charlie vom Abflug in Singapur, wo das Flugzeug vom Passagier- zum Cargojet umgerstet wurde, mit Zwischenstopp in Colombo, bernachtung in Muscat und einem weiteren Tankstopp in Larnaca, bis sie Kolleg:innen von CityLine und Cargo im Erdinger Moos in Empfang nehmen konnten. Die Organisation und Verantwortung fr den Transfer hatte Lufthansa Technik bernommen und dafr eine auf Ferry-Flge spezialisierte externe Cockpit-Crew beauftragt.

Die berfhrung nach Mnchen ist ein wichtiger Meilenstein auf dem Weg zum kommerziellen Erstflug, der fr Mitte Mrz geplant ist. Auf allen Ebenen laufen die Vorbereitungen auf Hochtouren fr den Betrieb der ersten Frachtmaschine dieser Art in Deutschland: Freigabe von luftfahrtrechtlichen Themen, Vertragsverhandlungen mit den beteiligten Unternehmen, kontinuierliche Abstimmung zwischen Lufthansa Cargo und Lufthansa CityLine, Crewtraining fr das Muster Airbus A321 sowie die technische Abnahme und Einflottung in die CAMO und das AOC der CityLine. Wird das alles geschafft sein, erfolgt die endgltige berfhrung nach Frankfurt.

Mit den langfristig konvertierten Frachtern, die Lufthansa CityLine fr Lufthansa Cargo betreiben wird, bietet Lufthansa Cargo ihren Kunden ab Mitte Mrz 2022 zustzliche Frachtkapazitten innerhalb Europas und auf der Mittelstrecke an. Neben Spediteuren, Integratoren und Postgesellschaften werden eCommerce-Anbieter Kunden fr dieses Angebot sein. Als Destinationen werden Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Manchester, Dublin, Tunis und Malta ab und nach Frankfurt bedient.

D-AIKG (A330) came back (from a stint in EW colors and SN AOC) and now operates ex-FRA for LH.

The details on the engines give you a decent picture on how LH worked that aircraft in the 12 years it was in service with them. (8000 cycles, 50000 hours)

Spiegel reports that the bids are in and it seems lufthansa is one of the bidders probably for parts.
