The 346s will definitely not come back. I have not listened to the recording, I just read the article.

Wow. So F will remain only on the B748s and (maybe) those 5 A380s?

The decision to replace the MD11 with B77F was taken years ago, the new aircraft have already arrived and the old need to go before heavy maintainance is due. Also the crews are probably retrained onto the new type.

D-ACKC (CR9) left the fleet a week ago in LJU. Another 5 (KA/KB/KD/KK/KL) will follow in 2021, taking the CL fleet of CR9 down to 28.

Before COVID there were plans to receive later deliveries of the A350's as of 2022 with A F section, possibly only 4 seats (one row). Now with most or all A380's gone we might also see the B77X's to be delivered with F once they will join the fleet in 2024 earliest as it seems per current status. By then a lot can happen concerning demand etc, however such decisions on seating can't be made in the last minute before delivery.

Did I miss the memo?

All A380s are now marked as 'to leave fleet'.

Wow. I know it was confirmed that all the A346's would go, but the A380s were only temporarily stored. That would be a rather large write-off especially when other European carriers seem to be rumoured to be investing in their A380 fleets.

Actually, "to leave fleet" is a fair summary of their currently envisioned future...
https://www.lufthansagroup.com/en/ne...g-program.html

After six Airbus A380s were finally taken out of service in the spring, the remaining eight A380s and ten A340-600s, which were previously intended for flight service, will be transferred to long-term storage and removed from planning. These aircraft will only be reactivated in the event of an unexpectedly rapid market recovery. In addition, the remaining seven Airbus A340-600s will be permanently decommissioned.

The 5 oldest B763 of Austrian were sold and leaving the fleet in the next weeks, starting with OE-LAT.

CS just mentioned at the press conference that he doesn't the A380 returning to the fleet ever.
