Lufthansa New/Cancelled Routes and Changes

This is an attempt to keep all Lufthansa Changes all under 1 roof as lately there is a thread per event. I'll try to do a wiki post or summarize in this post the new/cancelled routes over the past year.

So. Per airlineroute Khartoum is cancelled.

Lufthansa from 19JAN14 is cancelling service to Khartoum in Sudan, where it currently operates 4 weekly service on board Airbus A340-300 aircraft.

Lufthansa will continue to operate Frankfurt – Khartoum – Addis Ababa service, however Khartoum will become a technical stop only.

LH598 FRA1010 – 1755KRT1855 – 2045ADD 343 6
LH598 FRA1015 – 1800KRT1900 – 2050ADD 343 135

LH599 ADD2235 – 0025+1KRT0140+1 – 0600+1FRA 343 x247
The part I cannot understand is why the tech stop in KRT.

Yes, Germanwings has to rebook on the next available flight option for free (LX, LH, AF, whatever), regardless of how many days before departure the flight was cancelled. Source: EC Regulation 261/2004

Check the schedules/prices of Easyjet (GVA-SXF) and Skyworks (BRN-TXL) and you may prefer a refund from Germanwings.

Biz people tend to use the hourly ICE service instead.

Which is horribly unreliable and takes you forever compared to flying, in case you want to go to the convention center at one of the cities. Let`s hope AB keeps their connection.

Sad for this. LH made me discover Busan couple of years back. While I'm aware the ICN-PUS-ICN wasn't busy, I wonder whether having a plane sitting anyway in ICN will make the route more profitable.

Well now they have to unless they want to spend 450EUR
on the AB flight. I have been traveling that route roughly once a week for 5 years now and I always avoided the train. Delays, canceled trains, unavailable seats...I hate DB!
