It looks like DUS is losing F service on the EWR and ORD services starting 19FEB. Expertflyer only shows

J9 C9 D9 Z9 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 L9 K9

and rows 1 and 2 are displayed as part of C, with the seats being blocked. Trying to display an F seat map results in an error.

Another NEK, for mid-haul
per airlineroute:

Lufthansa is to reduce capacity on selected markets in Central Asia, as Frankfurt – Baku – Ashgabat service switches to narrow-body Airbus A321 aircraft, instead of A330/340. Aircraft change is scheduled to take place from 21JUL14.

Questions:
1.)What is the alternatives to ASB if not LH?
2.) What is the cheapest Y fare?

I have never been to ASB, and I don't know what the cost of doing business is there for LH, and who the people are who will buy NEK C tickets at that price, but if LH can sell them, more power to them.

This does seem to be a shortcoming of the NEK strategy: what to offer premium passengers on thin mid haul routes? If a widebody is too much capacity, how do you get people to pay for such crap for 4, 5 or even 6 hours--unless there is no competition... @:-)

My personal pain threshold in NEK is about FRA-HEL. Anything longer than HEL is HEL-L...

The same airline that beats EU carriers on most Central Asian routes - TK.

But old news: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/lufth...ss-ticket.html

Considering LH is reducing their A343 fleet and deploying the A330 on profitable routes its no surprise.

Same for the MUC-TBS I'm looking at now.
Though the Y(L) fare, in late fall, appears decent so far.

TBS alternative is TK.
EVN lacks both LH and TK, but has OS.

All in all, having NEK all the way, Y is the way to go.

Why not something like this? http://www.britishairways.com/en-ch/...ld-london-city. This is on an A318. And they have lie-flats as well on parts of the ex-BMI subfleet which goes to the Near East and Central Asia. And there are plenty of other airlines that have a real premium cabin on narrowbody jets. Haven't flown the new AA Airbus A321 on the transcon route yet, but that is another example.

Interesting. If the market really supports the prices quoted, I bet a couple/few rows of those seats would pay off. You do realize such an offering would require a change in mindset at LH?

What are the odds of that happening?

Another great example of brilliant Aviation Management; making a profitable flight even more profitable by employing a cheaper aircraft and working with capacity benefitting the change even more.

And for the poor souls (with a certain affection for airline food) there is TK (and since a few months now, apparently also...Air Serbia)

The network management in recent months is simply spectacular and I am happy to see that there are no (well, okay..., hardly any) sacred cows anymore.

Hence, the prof. biz traveler prefers Lufty and a good Turkish or Serbian restaurant at home on the weekend.

Reminds me a bit of the good old Fairy Ultra commercial.

While the biz pro is already at home enjoying Turkish food in a good restaurant, the lame duck is still consuming Turkish food at a TK lounge in IST. The really poor soul has to overnight in Belgrade.
