Greetings from onboard LH459 SFO-MUC flying over North Peak, Nevada. Champagne on this flight is Taittinger Brut Millésimé 2007. Here’s the proof and I have seen the bottle.

Not sure if this was the dark bottle with a purple/gold label (forgot the name of the champagne) - they said that it was from a very small winery in France...

At least it was decent for once!

(But the food sucked as usual - had to ask if biz had anything...)

Some here will complain that it is too cheap for First, but it is a bubbly I actually like. Enjoy your flight! ^

When I flew MUC-SFO a week ago they were still serving Alfred Gratien at least according to the menu. The change must have only just happened.

So what? Still miles ahead of the LH "promotion" of Alfred Gratien that I had the misfortune to run into in Sept/Oct.

Oh and the regular Krug Grande cuvée ended up in the TPR.

Having just left TPR for my flight to Sydney, no matter what champagne they were serving there I'd take an LH FCL over TPR any day of the week..!

The 2004 KRUG has been a very nice touch on board though ;-)

$100 a bottle retail, in the US. That stuff is quite tasty.

It's about half of that in Europe.

As I said, I like it. Those who only compare prices of champagnes in F will complain.

You were not keen on it in #119 & #158

Tatt 2007 is IMHO too cheap for a First Class Champagne on an airline that says it aspires to 5*

I do however quite like it & at least it’s a Vintage as opposed to the Alfred Gratien last Month which was NV

SQ serve the Tatt 2007 in Business

Its 41-50€ incl VAT in Germany: https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich...aittinger.html

As far as complaining goes, I'm pretty certain no one can really differentiate the taste in a pressurized cabin anyway, so the label is important to send a message of luxury to the F pax, nothing else. James Bond used to drink Dom in the books (and I remember Dom or Krug being served in the early Sean Connery films) but now he sips Bollinger since 1979. I'm sure Churchill couldn't taste the finer points of Pol Roger after all the Cigars and Snoop Dog has some of his senses numbed enough to not taste the finesse of Cristal...

The massive complaint in #119 is from wordhopper, not me. In the other post I said I liked the Henriot better than the Taittinger, which is true. I consider the Henriot an upgrade from the Taittinger.

Comparisons are difficult: BR serves Krug Rose in Business (HK flights), does that mean LH and SQ should drop 300 Euros a bottle in Business, too, and what would they serve in First then?
