I stopped accepting sandwiches on shorthaul economy flights and don't have many photos to add though I have finally come across a beef pastrami sandwich.

Other LH shorthaul economy food I've seen recently includes a turkey salami sandwich and yoghurt and muesli on an early morning flight.

There are two kinds of sandwiches now. The S (snack/brunch) stage looks like this:

When did they change? In late January it was still the same triangular pack on a flight departing at 8am. Is the content even smaller?

This was in 2012.

7 months later.

Still better than this from 2008 which was featured as one of "The Saddest In-Flight Meals" on a website which unfortunately (or fortunately!) does not seem to exist any longer!

The 'triangular pack' is still out there. On shorter flights (eg MUC-TLS) they have the smaller sandwich.

It appears that the 'triangular pack' has been enhanced away and replaced by what oliver2002 posted in #122 on longer routes such as FRA-OPO (block time 2h45). On my recent flights between MAN, FRA and OPO this was the vegetarian option and the non-vegetarian option was a turkey sandwich.

A slight variation, a cheese sandwich without shredded carrot on MUC-MAN (block time 1h55).

MAN-MUC (07:05 departure - block time 1h55) - note the date on the package!

MUC-TXL, TXL-MUC (block time 65-70 mins)

Looks similar to OS in Economy on SOF-VIE and VIE-OTP flights which I flew last December:

Salty on left, sweet on right

When I flew FRA-VIE and VIE-DBV last September the choice was salty OR sweet.

IME this depends on the flight load (and, of course, the mood of the FA).

Thankfully the load on my flight was fairly life so when I asked politely for "and", I got it.

Love this threat! Thanks for all this insight. After avoiding LH for the past 10 years I'm up for a new experience in a couple of days and will ensure to get to the airport well fed ;-) I'll make sure to capture my food impressions!

Some more LH sandwiches and snacks from the last few months.

FRA-OPO (10:05 departure - block time 2h45)

MAN-FRA (06:20 departure - block time 1h40)

FRA-TXL (block time 1h10)

TXL-FRA (block time 1h10)

A pretzel roll cheese sandwich served on recent flights (block time 1h40 - 2h35). Much nicer than the non-vegetarian alternative of a pastrami sandwich.

Wow, I'm surprised by these photos of LH sandwiches, I thought they'd scrapped sarnies years ago. Definitely better than what they offer on OS, and now both of those carriers are better than BA, which will offer ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from January 2017! (unless you want to pay for something, of course!)
