huh? additional APD? what's that? : ) what has been changed recently?

well it's quite weird VIE-IAS min is 80eur. what is the real diff between routes

Is there any consensus or even just data points / experiences on how much more likely or cheaper it is to get an upgrade to J from PE than from Y? Also what the priority is between plusgrade upgrades and eVoucher upgrades? (Can you waitlist an eVoucher and place a plusgrad bid for the same flight? If not, what gives you the better chance of getting upgraded?)

Any recent DP for LAX-VIE please? Bidded €495 (minimum) and thinking about the success rate. This route seems to be newly added and suspend during COVID.

Unfortunately being rejected, although I thought this is a fair offer.
Looking at previous DPs, it seems that if they wish to accept it they will do so soon after 72h, but not wait until the 48h deadline. Also there is only 1 business ticket left so they probably want to save it for the last-minute passengers.

With OS I've had very good results when bidding low, but next time make sure to bid a tiny bit above the minimum since that's what most people bid, and doing so will put you above many bidders. If the lowest is 495, big something like 502.

Upgrading economy to business?

Hi everyone, I am a total newbie to this but hoping the more knowledgeable folks can help me figure this out. My husband and I are on a flight VIE->ORD (OS65) on 4/23 in Economy class (W). Our itinerary was split into two because my husband changed his name recently and the original itinerary had his old name. Just mentioning it because I have to do things twice. I am hoping to score business seats for us since it's a 9 hour flight, but this is my first time bidding so had a couple of questions if anyone knows the answers...

Expertflyer shows the following in terms of flight availability (bolding what I think are business classes)
J8 C8 D8 Z8 P0 | G9 E3 N0 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H0 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T0 L0 K0

We don't have status; We have a miles and more accounts but when the itinerary was split, mine seems to have been scrubbed from the itinerary and my husband's is not on his because it's a separate process to change the name on the miles and more account and that's still underway (his still shows the old name). Mentioning this in case it's relevant.

On to my questions:
1. I read somewhere that even if I bid, it's unlikely to get accepted because you can't jump two tiers (economy to business with premium economy in between)
2. I bid 510 EUR for both of us separately. Is it possible that only one bid gets accepted in this scenario given we are not traveling together in the eyes of Austrian staff? We have the same last name but we have that spit itinerary. I have a screenshot of what plus grade shows as our predictor (a half circle divided into 5 pieces, and the little arrow is slightly into the 4th piece) but I can't post as I am so new that the forum doesn't let me post photos yet.
3. Is 8 seats in business almost 6 days out a good thing or is that typical? Wondering if OS would prioritize status folks for upgrades vs these bids. Anyone have any data points for that?

Grateful for any insights people have!

1. You can bid for business, the option shows when you start the process. You can't upgrade further, so if you had bid for PE you would not be able to upsell into Business.
2. Yes, the system doesn't look out for other reservations. However, when they split you, the system should have remembered that and has linked your two reservations in some form. That said I doubt the Plusgrade system will see that.
3. The cabin looks empty enough, the upgrade bid should clear.

Thanks so much for the reply. There is no way to know how many other people are bidding, right? So it's possible others are also seeing these clear cabins on expert flyer and bidding. Finger crossed I suppose! I wish there was a way to link up our itineraries again but that doesn't seem possible per a gate agent I spoke to on the way from ORD-> VIE. Will post here if the bid is accepted to add to the data points pile.

Other than Plusgrade no one (including Austrian staff) can see how many are bidding and what the bids are. I doubt the bidding is that popular. So far I have always bid the lowest on Lufthansa regional flights and won my upgrade about 2-3 days before departure.

That's really good to know. I had failed to secure an upgrade via the bidding on the way over (bid a smidge over the lowest amount) so I was wondering if I was missing something. But maybe the Friday ORD-VIE flight was more popular for business travelers.

I am of course anxiously stalking expert flyer fare availability and the seat map and I noticed something interesting today. There is now one extra seat available in business class for sale.

J9 C9 D9 Z9 P0 G9 E0 N0 Y9 B9 M9 U0 H0 Q9 V9 W0 S0 T0 L0 K0

BUT the seat map now shows 7 additional blocked seats. Anyone have any insight as to why they are blocked?

When are you allowed to bid for an upgrade? Just booked a Premium Econ RT through United and a portion of our return leg is via OS (VIE to ORD) in June. I have the OS confirmation code and went to Austrians site and put in the info under My Bookings but there was no selection option to bid for an upgrade. Is bidding only available when booking with OS directly? I see the option to select seats for $50, but after clicking it, it came back as not eligible.

OS usually only allows bidding if the booking is done with a native OS flight number.

Codeshares are not eligible for (succesful) bidding or fixed price upgrades

If you book coach, can you bid to upgrade to either PE or J?

Do they offer any fixed price upgrades or just plusgrade?
