Sounds like a very bad deal for PE passengers. It happened to me once and i downgraded to economy so i can get the 3 middle seats and sleep

Austrian Bid Upgrade

I recently bid €50 for an upgrade on an upcoming OS flight. It's a short flight blocked at only 1h30m. The Business Class cabin is empty (3/16 load factor for now), and I originally booked a fairly cheap Economy Light fare. Anyone know what the odds are for an upgrade? And a follow-up question, if my upgrade clears, will I earn extra UA Mileage Plus miles?

I had a few 50€ bid biz upgrades and to my primary A3 program I received biz class miles.

Thanks - just saw your experience. I'm doing VIE-SOF in a couple of days on an E195 as well, and for now there are also 8 rows of J, of which only 1 is fully occupied. €50 was my minimum, so let's hope it works out! I'll update with an answer asap.

Happy to report that my 50 Euro bid to Sofia was accepted! Typing this from the OS Non-Schengen Lounge... Looking forward to a nice culinary experience on the short flight down south!

Food on OS business class has been good lately
Just did VIE-CDG and back

food was good, nice interesting pasta dishes, hot bread selection, more creative desserts and the wine kept pouring, they had two reds and two whites. coffee/tea + chocolate round also of course

Have they reintroduced choices? last i flew CDG and LHR out of vie, it was one dish same for all pax - relatively small serving of it and not very interesting. I miss the huge schnitzel days

SOF-VIE on OS800 this morning - minimum bid of €65 accepted. Was thrilled to see that one of the smaller dishes for breakfast was lox and schmear and the main omelet was great too

Yesterday, OS offered Y to P upgrades from LCA to VIE and VIE to LCA for €29 per sector for flights in March (€58 return). I could not believe my eyes. These Y flights were part of a PE itinerary to BKK in Y/N class.

nothing new btw, LH has the same for Y/N-E-G - part of PE. but although you upgrade Y to P, you should still get Y miles (1250 instead of 750 at least on LH operated flights)

Both the upgrade bidding via Plusgrade and the fixed price upgrades will change the booking class from Y to P. As a result you will earn miles as per thenew P booking class, so buyer beware (especially when you credit to a FFP that credits nothing or very little for LH/OS/LX P)
