Is there a LH Transfer Desk at DOH?
Hi All, in Jan2013 I will be travelling a multi-airline star alliance / partner award trip in Business Class with fix issues by UA. Specifically I will be flying JNB (QR) DOH (LH) FRA. In DOH, I have 3 hour connection. QR has advised that while they can tag bags all the way through till final destination, but they can't issue LH Boarding Passes. If online check-in were not able to work (for whatever reason) on LH, I will have to obtain a LH Boarding pass in DOH.
LH Specific Question: Does anyone know if this can be done airside (like a Transfer Desk which is manned by LH for a few hours)? Or will I have to obtain a visa and go landslide?

QAS handles LH in DOH, so you should be able to find someone airside... worst case just go to the lounge, they should have someone there too.

Worst case scenario check in at the gate at T-90.

Just an extra note: The New Doha International Airport will open later this year or beginning next year (if there is no further delay), thus you might get to a completely new airport. Consequently the current information (for the current airport) might not be correct any more then. Nevertheless, the airport will be designed as a transfer airport - few pax have DOH as final destination - so there should be a transfer desk or if not you can always check in at the gate.

Many thanks for the replies! I was aware of the new airport opening just before our trip, but expected the date to be pushed back (it rarely happens on the date they say it will). Forgot about the opportunity at the gate!

Yes, there is a small general transfer desk tucked away in a corner. They can arrange LH boarding passes and upgrade requests. If you don't see it, ask a staff member where it is.
Most transfers at DOH are QR-QR so the transfer desk doesn't get much business.
