Austrian in Summer 2012: Equipment changes JUL1-AUG31 due to crew shortage
As some of you might have heard the imminent changes at OS (transfer of all operations and employees from mainline to regional daughter company "Tyrolean Airways/Austrian arrows" from July 1) resulted in quite a few pilots and FA's quitting their jobs. To guarantee all flights during the busy summer season despite this situation several routes will be taken over by partner airlines and others will be affected by equipment changes.
Most important change: TLV will (again) lose the widebodies with proper C as both daily flights will be operated with A-321's from July 15.
I will use this thread to keep you updated on the topic.
So far the following changes are confirmed by OS and already loaded into the system:
JUL1-AUG31
VIE-FCO-VIE OS501/502 operated by Lufthansa (LH) 737-300
VIE-DUS-VIE OS151/152 operated by Lufthansa (LH) 737-300
VIE-DUS-VIE OS155/156 operated by Lufthansa (LH) 737-300
VIE-BUD-VIE several flights to be operated by Welcome Air (2W) Do-328
VIE-PRG-VIE several flights to be operated by Welcome Air (2W) Do-328
VIE-LNZ-VIE all flights except OS957/958 operated by Welcome Air (2W)
several flights to/from KLU and some to INN, SZG and GRZ will also be operated by Welcome Air with Do-328 aircraft
JUL14/15-AUG31
VIE-TLV-VIE OS857/858 A-321 replaces B-767
VIE-TLV-VIE OS859/860 A-321 replaces B-767
VIE-MUC-VIE OS117/118 operated by Augsburg Airways (IQ) E190
VIE-ARN-VIE OS311/312 operated by Augsburg Airways (IQ) E190
VIE-ARN-VIE OS313/314 operated by Augsburg Airways (IQ) E190
JUL2-SEP10
VIE-DXB-VIE OS839/840 operated by Lufthansa (LH) A-340

Austrian operations disruptions in Summer 2012 due to Pilot/Crew Layoffs
http://kurier.at/wirtschaft/4498367-...en-an-bord.php
Looks like OS will be short of crew to operate long and shorthaul this summer after a significant portion of their flight crew rather took the payoff than be transferred to Tyrolean.
This means a number of flights will operated by wetlease, and all CH/DE flights by LX/LH.
777 crews are the worst affected (probably because these are in demand by various growing carriers) and one 777 will probably be grounded.

Nothing to do with SCORE, OS needed a massive cleaning and they succeeded. Only 121 employees opted out, mainly junior crew, so the financial situation of OS should be much better going forward.

Can they replace the grounded 777 with a LH wetlease (does LH have the spare aircraft?) Maybe one of the A340s or 747s that would be leaving the fleet over the summer?

OS has cleaned out the management and the new team is Albrecht & Dr Benz.
They have now got all parties on board for a turnaround.
The previous pilot contracts were insane.

Just to repeat, none of the SCORE14 concepts haven't even started to be implemented, they are still busy defining their strategy and details...
