Frustrating for all of us BIS miles earners.

Perhas the flights are already heavy overbooked so there will be many opups? Or they count on miles/eVoucher upgrades? Also, some revenue F pax is always late with their reservations.

Here's another data point. F awards to Japan are relatively easy to find but I've been monitoring *A (upgrade) award availability in August and F awards on LH714 (MUC-NRT) opened up 14 days before departure and on LH710 (FRA-NRT) 8 days before departure.

Scored 2xF for tomorrow on LAX-FRA. Replaced my previous LAX-DFW-FRA.
I was positively giddy when I saw it open up. It's a more full cabin (6/8) seeing as we were the ONLY people in F on the DFW-FRA flight, but I think upper deck on the 744 and no connection are definitely worth the change. It doesn't look like we'll get the new F. FRA website says the inbound is being operated by D-ABVX tomorrow, but hey, we still each get two seats.

Was previously scheduled on LH470 for FRA-YYZ for today and it was 5/8
Last month flew LH471 YYZ-FRA and it was 4/8
LH seems to like empty F seats!

So, you're saying 2 F seats opened up on a wide open flight only 1 day prior to departure? I presume Swiss is even worse with their inventory allocation, even thought I don't think one seats is booked on LX 52? BA opened its award seats today.
BTW, is LH 424 BOS-MUC on Aug 9 New F or Old F (A346)?

Yes, he (me) is trying to book using UA MPs.

They also opened 1 F seat on SFO-FRA (A380) at the same time and it was sitting at F3. This flight booked up fast recently. It was sitting at F8 only a week and a half ago.
No seats were opened on IAH-FRA (A380 which was also at F3. 1 seat was opened on SFO-MUC which was at F4. LAX-MUC was at F1 and no F awards were released.
DEN-FRA and SEA-FRA had been open for multiple awards (2+ F) for several days. YVR-FRA was open even earlier, but 2xF seats were snatched a few days ago. DFW-FRA opened multiple F seats 15 days out.
The LX flights are essentially full in F. SFO-ZRH has been at F0 since 7/31 and LAX-ZRH has been bouncing between F0 and F1 for the last week and half.

How can I tell if the LH flight from MUC-BOS on Aug 9th is new F or old F?
Also, most of the above commentary applies to LH award inventory? What does LX do if their flights have open F? Right now, LX 52 is showing F8 (isn't that the entire F cabin?).
