DUS keeps flying 3-cabin Airbuses, but on many routes just sells C and Y, keeping the F cabin empty (not even selling these as C unless extreme loads demand this...a bonus for Senators and HONs and some STARGolds who get the extra special seats). MUC seems to have priority over updated F cabin Airbuses.

I've found this website to be quite accurate though sometimes they seem to jump the gun.

Can you let us know whether they've put a modified F B744 on this route. I've finally been confirmed with an award seat on this flight two week's after you. Had a refurb'd B744 on the FRA-IAD route back in November. Just as good as the actual seats/beds was getting the new grey styled sleeper suit and Porsche Design amenity kit. Not sure if this is now standard on all B744 (and A380) F flights since my last three have been on Airbuses where it was still the Bogner amenity kits and old style blue sleeper suits and slippers.

Why don't they offer the new PJ's and amenity kit even on the old F? I struggle to understand how anyone could pay to fly F on LH at the moment considering the scatter gun approach regarding the new F and the routes they fly when the difference between the old and new seems so great.
It's almost like they need to do an SQ and create a "class beyond first".

It seems the soft product (kits, PJs, blankets etc) are color co-ordinated with the design of the seat & cabin, so with new F you get a different set. The magic number seems to be 75%+ retrofit stage, when they will switch to one set. This is expected to to be attained with the fleet in Autumn 2012 with the start of the winter schedule.
