Lufthansa withdraws SFO-FRA A380 from Oct 30, 2011 [and resumes in summer 2012]

Lufthansa withdraws SFO-FRA A380 from Oct 30, 2011. Just checked their website. It flies A380 on Oct 29, 2011 and only 747 from Oct 30, 2011. Even during holiday time. Surprising!!

if this is true, don't count on that much longer - when the spring schedule gets updated, chances are your flight will be downgraded...

Seasonal inventory drawdown -- it's natural. They could well put the A380 back on the route by May of next year.

Or is it in anticipation of getting permission to fly A380 to DEL?
India is so important a destination that Lufthansa would pull out a super-jumbo A380 from one of its scheduled destinations to service the Delhi route, its CEO Carsten Spohr has said. “We will take an aircraft from somewhere else but one of them will fly to New Delhi,” Hindustan Times quoted him saying. “We would have put Delhi on the list of first seven destinations rather than some other destination if we had a choice.”

Luckily I have upgraded Mrs DUF and Micro DUF to an A380 F experience before that date.

Can't understand why this thread is in the *A forum but there's some discussion on this topic in the M&M forum as well.

I believe that this seasonal switch may have been around for awhile. I think that when the A380 service in Spring 2012 stops to Miami, it then again starts for SFO.

Indeed it was in the planned schedule regarding SFO.

Why do they stop it during the winter?

Why does LH stop the A380 during the winter FRA-SFO? I am flying FRA-SFO this winter, and I can only get the B747! What do they do with the A380 during those winter months?
