No need to offer discounted longhaul destinations in premium cabins during August/summer holiday. Can easily sell at normal prices/levels.

I found lots of availability in business ex USA for 55,000, but the taxes were...... over USD1,800. Seriously??

Thought the extreme taxes were at BA only. I can deal with around 500-600 Euros for a round trip using miles, but this is beyond ludicrous. By the way, all the availability I saw seems to have completely disappeared. Why is it all so random?

Just did some test searches in the summer vacations and it seems the A346 flight from MUC to ORD and the B744 from FRA to YYZ are available on quite a few days in July & August... 55k +680-690€ is pretty tempting...

Yes, indeed, but in the other direction (looking for a friend) the taxes and surcharges are almost the same price as a revenue ticket. Unless it's an IT error à la British Airways.
