Upgrading on THAI

I seem to be unable to get the online boooking engine on Miles and More to upgrade me from J to F on a BKK_DEL flight leaving 17th Feb on THAI. So is ti possible to do this at the airport i.e. getting THAI to take my M&M miles to upgrade me? It wasnt possible when I was SEN on LH 3 years ago but things seemed to have improved even more with M&M since then (it remains in my view, the best *A FFP in terms of *A functionality), so just asking around

You need to call M&M.
Alternatively try to upgrade with cash at checkin.
TG offers standby cash upgrades at checkin. Should be around USD500 iirc.

BKK DEL is about 12000 THB for a cash standby upgrade. Make sure you ask the upgrade to be documented in the reservation by changing the booking class and you will get F miles too

Not worth to upgrade standby !
Up to the fare you are on now

J >> 17.785
D >> 19.080
C >> 23.440 or 26.425

the F fare is 32.925

so the difference between the cheapest J and F is 15.140 THB aprox 485 US$.
If you are on one of the more expensive fares, the difference is less, you should ask bevore you SBUG if the reissuing to full F is not cheaper.

Cash Upgrades per the above chart - do those work only ex-BKK or also on inbound flights (e.g. SGN - BKK)?
Thanks.

Hi, One additional question here: If I bought a cash upgrade from I (LH MAM Business Class) into First Class 1) is it possible? 2)will I be able to collect miles? SYD-BKK-FRA. Thanks a lot for your answers in advance

Had recently the experience that I used cash at check in to go from Y to C. M&M are now denying the miles. Unfortunately I don't have any MCO, just the credit card receipt and a published document listing the cash upgrade prices on Thai (& the boarding pass of course).
Any help how to convince M&M to credit the miles ?

TG updated the T&C of the standby cash upgrades:

Conditions: Upgrade surcharges cannot be pre-booked and are only available for sale at the airport check-in counter before each flight sector. Upgrade surcharges are applicable to normal fare types booked in Economy Class 'Q' and above and for travel on THAI operated aircraft only with three digit flight numbers. Upgrade surcharges do not apply to revenue tickets booked in 'V' or 'W' class both internationally or domestically, industry or agent discount tickets, frequent flyer redemption tickets and barter tickets. Child or infant discounts do not apply. Any additional taxes incurred with the upgrade are at the expense of the passenger. Frequent flyer mileage earned will be based on the original fare paid.
I guess some of us took it to an extreme (again)
