They have been trialing this at LHR and it is the world's biggest nightmare.
It takes so much staff time to check every Y pax BP to let them in the Group 3 queue.
Priority boarding is half the plane and is an absolute melee.
The ground staff hate it, planes are boarding noticably slower, and pax (especially economy pax) are very confused.

Good to hear from someone who has personally experienced this trial system.

My personal experience with LHR Gate staff has shown that they do not like managing boarding PAX.

Air France does this zone boarding already - just that the electronic gates read the zone and if it's not your time yet, it doesn't let you through.
But also there, Zone 1 and 2 is 1/3 to 1/2 of the plane.
And I wouldn't say that boarding goes much quicker.

But why not try something again which hasn't worked in the past

Same chaotic experience last week at LHR going to MUC with no status and a window seat with group 3 boarding. Joined the back of a huge group 3 queue with one boarding pass checker. Various people kicked out at the front for having group 4/5 boarding passes but just moved to one side hovering. Before I even got to the BP checker they announced groups 4 and 5 and they all surged towards the checker ignoring the group 3 queue.

When flying J or F, I prefer to be the last to board. It is more civilised that way.

Middle seat remains free in eurobiz so trolley goes under there.

I avoid row 1 in the A32S, and usually the other pax boards first and stows their kitchen sink in the overhead
