Lounge @ DUS
Hi,
I may be flying LH F via DUS in October but I would have to wait for my connecting flight for 3 hours (to ZRH).
From what I read on LH website, there is no First Class lounge in DUS. What about other lounges? Are they nice or do they look like Business lounges in FRA (crowded, no internet access,...). What about the airport?
Thanks

Hello thyeri,
DUS is an airport quite convenient to connect at. There is no dedicated F lounge, but a decent SEN lounge (A gates) with breakfast service, showers and rest area. One caveat: Arrival may be by bus. When I used the Privatair service ORD-DUS frequently, there was also a bus for connecting pax. Recently on LHR-DUS, all pax had to go landside after clearing customs and immigration. Thus you probably need clear security again.

So there are two lounges, one SEN and one Business. What is the difference between them? Less crowded in SEN?
I was in MUC F Lounge 10 days ago and it was amazing... But last year in FRA I had a bad experience in Bus Lounge as it was really really crowded (early morning), no internet access...

Obviously it depends on the time of the day, but you will not feel squished...actually size-wise BIZ lounge is bigger than SEN lounge...

Less crowded in the Business lounge. However, the DUS SEN lounge is quite nice and the offerings are decent (for a SEN lounge).

I usually head over to the Business lounge as it is more spacious and not as crowded as the SEN lounge. In the evening they also serve some snacks (sausages).
You can connect to the interent via t-mobile WLAN but is not free of charge unfortunately.

You will find me at the SEN lounge, usually at the very moment when they open in the morning. At that time, the crowd is manageable. Breakfast. I much prefer this lounge over what BA offers, although BA is more comfortable, with less food offerings.

In SEN and Business lounge they serve cheap american-style potato salad with mayonnaise and cheap sausages. Booze is for free and plenty of it available. Usually crowded.
If you have the choice and can try FRA FCL or FCT it will be a much better experience then Business lounges in FRA.

DUS bis lounge usually beat FRA SEN lounge. Wifi access at all German LH lounges is available (at a cost) via T-mobile. as you have access to the SEN lounge at DUS it is no contest for me. A nice airport to connect in and depart from IMO - never very crowded. Quick check-in and security whatever your airline and whatever your route.

Now I feel like I don't wanna stay in DUS for three hours if the lounge is not nice...
Another option, instead of waiting, would be to go to ZRH via FRA.
Schedule would be as follow:
Arrival at DUS at 7.25am
DUS-FRA 08.30-09.25
FRA-ZRH 10.25-11-30
Instead of DUS-ZRH 10:20-11:40
I depart ZRH to PVG at 13:05.
I would be able to visit FCL in FRA for 30mn, no?
Any chance I can get escorted by car from or to the plane in FRA?
Thanks! ^

To the plane:
From FCL - NO
From FCT - YES (but difficult to achieve with that connection time)
But what's the fuss with the lounges about? DUS SEN lounge for three hours must surely beat all that hassle via FRA - but that is of course your choice

As you are flying F to Germany it should be possible to fly to FRA instead of flying to DUS?
If you cannot change your F flight then wait 3 hours in DUS. 90 minutes in Biz lounge and 90 minutes in SEN lounge. The next time time you will be happy to fly threw FRA.
As Flying Lawyer remarked so accurate, the F lounge always beats the Biz lounge.

And why should to poor OP spend 90 minutes in the Bis lounge and 90 minutes in the SEN lounge? If he gets a nice seat in the SEN lounge there is no need to go out again, walk down the stairs, go up the other staircase and move into the C-lounge? Ok, if you need some exercises, but for a normal day....
