a smart sen
if you really wait two years as a SEN to get the other Evoucher and in the two years you are flying mostly economy, you are doing something wrong.
i mean if you are on FT, you should by now have learnd enough tricks to fly C/F only and only Fly eco to burn evouchers and SWUs on longhaul

Dont be in such a hurry
I wouldn't go flying off the handle too quickly and burn your vouchers just yet. It clearly states that all currently accumulated vouchers including those collected up to and including 30th March 2011 will remain valid until 1st July 2013. any vouchers collected after 1 April 2011 will have a 24 month validity. Hence any requals including march 2011 will be fine.

would get one United SWU and will fly both legs in C or F.

Actually my biggest problem is that I mostly fly C within Europe for business (where it's hard to use an eVoucher, since there is no seat to upgrade to) and on private trans-atlantic trips I tend to sit in F (a big thanks to all the tricks on FT^) where a eVoucher is quite useless as well. Obviously I could buy a ticket in C and use them to upgrade, but it's much easier and cheaper to just cough up the miles for an award seat.
So I can either use them on private trips within Europe (where I normally buy a ticket in Y), but don't really see the point of upgrading for a 60 minute flight or I have to wait for long haul business travel to use the eVouchers to upgrade to F (and possibly get a weird look from my boss).
I thought you can only use UA SWU to upgrade on a standby basis with LH, but I might be wrong...

So instead of rotting on 30th of March 2013, they rot 4 months later ... and that is the grand "no worries" ?

upgrade one leg with the e-voucher, and than use the SWU on the other leg.
actually on my flying to CPT, NYC, NRT, PVG, HKG, LAX my SWUs have always cleared, mostly at checkin.
and if you earn your status on companies dime, than consider upgrading your Y fare using your private evouchers and swus. of course you travel for your work, and to earn money, but even if you buy spg points and trade it for SWUs, that money is not much. hey, your employee is paying for your status, so having 1000-2000euro per year to spend on upgrades, would be ok for me.

I think most people here are complaining about the fact that eVouchers are pretty worthless if you only have two of them, since you already need two just to upgrade a one way trans-atlantic flight (no matter whether you get them through flying for your company or private flights) and some people would even like to upgrade two passengers both ways, which requires eight eVouchers.
And to make things worse, I guess some lucky HONs here have the problem that they normally sit in the highest available COS, where upgrade tools are useless anyways, so they are waiting for a time when they might need/want to use them.
Now LH comes up with a rule that status pax need to spend eVouchers within two years, while anybody with a M&M CC can keep their newspaper subscription miles for ever. Not that I am advocating that miles should expire even with a CC, just let us keep the eVouchers as long as we have status, after that they can expire within 2 years.

Some of us still have eVouchers sitting in the account which were converted from 50k paper vouchers back in 2004!
(That's how you end up with >30 eVouchers...and that's going to be tough to burn! )

due to customer demand, we are announcing that each time you renew or achieve SEN status, you will get one precious e-voucher from 2012 on. Lufthansa has always listened to its most loyal customers, and so we will increase the infinite possibilities of spending your e-vouchers by making it possible to upgrade your one way longhaul flight with only four e-vouchers.
Lufthansa - there is no better way to fly!
