MUC luggage question
 

Will be flying from the US via MUC (on LH) to Asia (on TG) and had a luggage question. On the return have a stopover in MUC and plan to go skiing. Since there is no need to have (snow) ski equipment in Asia is it possible to simply check that through just to MUC on the way over and leave it there. I searched the MUC airport site and there appears to be a paid luggage storage option, but while not listing ski equipment in the various prices, it looks like that would end up being quite expensive so I was hoping to avoid that.

According to this site: http://www.munich-airport.de/de/cons...eck1/index.jsp they charge 20.-€ for 24h for surf equipment. Skis should cost a little bit less, I would guess. But still really expensive if you leave it there several days. :(

I should think about offering a baggage storing service in my garage....!? :D

Most hotel will store luggage for guests - usually it is free.
The Airport Kempinsky is 3 min walk from the customs exit. If you stay there on the return they could store the equipment. One night there is likely cheaper than the storage fees in the airport.

Wouldn't you be better off renting equipment? That would safe you the hauling around and is probably cheaper than storing it somewhere. Maybe just take your boots with you and leave the skis at home? (unless you are a professional skier and need your own gear ;) )

I would definitly leave the gear at home, and at maximum take your boots. Speaking as a former professional skier, it would make no sense whatsoever based on your post.

The ski hire equipment in Austria is of excellent quality, and does not compare to the awful hire equipment that I have seen in the states on numerous trips.

The Kempinsky might well be the best option and may have a day room there on arrival in MUC. Thanks for the replies.
