First A380s Named

Hi everyone,

The first two A380s have been named after our two hubs FRA and MUC.

More A380 fun is on the way, see the press release for details:

And don't forget to bookmark http://www.lufthansa.com/a380.

Have a great weekend,
Michelle

So the third A380 will presumably be named "Düsseldorf" after the boutique style hub there ?

A boutique style A380 for a boutique style hub - a snip at €69 or 19,000 miles.

However, a somewhat disturbing caption on the a380 site.

Herpa Lufthansa Airbus A380-800 (1:200)
It may not yet be in service, but in the meantime you can marvel at the model. The European flying giant will supersede the Boeing 747 as the biggest civil aircraft in the skies. Lufthansa is airming to put its first A380-800 into service in two years.

You can always enter this competition though LH employees may not be eligible to take part. Anyone who doesn't know what to do with (another) one million miles may donate them to me!

A competition to find a catchy nickname for the Airbus A380 will be launched this coming Monday at lufthansa.com/a380 under the motto “Be part of it.” Entrants stand a chance of becoming a millionaire as the winner will receive one million Miles&More award miles.

I am rooting for Bitterfeld!

And that makes me a M&M millionaire...

I have to admit that I don't understand the excitement about the A380 and even less about the names. Why would someone care to fly on Munich instead of Frankfurt or vv or indeed any other named plane?

Well, I was happy I got to fly on "Weimar" yesterday.

I admit that I enjoy the city names on the planes as well. They are a nice touch but I will not go out of my way just to be on a certain plane due to its city name.

A380 Nickname competition

About this competition, to create THE nickname for the first LH A380 (and presumably, if it is cool, for the entire LH fleet of A380s):
at: www.lufthansa.com/a380

I have entered. Now, it is not for me to interfere in any way in the free course of this competition, but should any reader find that my suggestions are the best available, then one might hope for a vote in that direction. As the Brits say, Nod Nod.

My suggestions are (you'll understand when you visit the competition site):
- "BigL" : near the front junction of the tail with the fuselage
- "Big L" : very near the lower (nostril area) of the nose

Thank you for your support, and the many millions of others who will wish they could join me. If I win this, I shall allocate most of the 1,000,000 miles to research purposes. My research of beaches and mountains.

BigL or Big L

Good endorsement letter, but lousy nicknames :-)

Still you might earned my vote, as I support research activities.

I've thrown my hat into the ring with "MegaCrane". For a million miles, it's worth a shot.
