Can't Collect M&M Miles on a First Class Ticket???

Dear Frequent Flyers,

just called up Senator Service Hotline here in Austria and almost went through the roof:

I cannot collect ANY miles for my flight IST-BKK on Turkish Airlines First Class. Although it is StarAlliance member and ALL classes are eligible the only class excluded is FIRST CLASS A (restricted)!!!

How is it possible that a 4000€ ticket is not eligible for ANY miles??

Can anyone come up with a reasonable explanation and maybe even tell me WHEN this crazy term was introduced...?!

Any chance to still get the miles?

Regards,

Gerald

"Miles cannot be earned in booking class A."
Quite annoying.

However, you can always credit the filghts to BMI's Diamond Club. Here TK F (and A) flights earn 200% (same as Business class):

That is seriously dumb. :td:
I'm curious if TK used A as a super restricted Y fare in the past, then switched it. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to not allow mileage accrual at least equal to C fares. The M&M website says the the TK earning was updated Jan 09, so fairly up-to-date.

If nothing better I would credit the flight to a diff program, TK's Miles&Smiles had a promo to *G for one return flight in F (don't know about the fare class), but since you're already SEN I don't know if it would be of any use.

Quite interesting to get to know that fact, which I wouldn't think about searching for it. I always think MM will credit you with miles with any class flown with Star Alliance partners.

It is going to make me think twice before purchasing or flying TK first class on a discounted ticket.

Better think quick, as TK is binning their F class soon !

SQ by the way also has some severe restriction, alas for Economy travel.

I assume TK A class used to be a highly discounted Y fare and TK/LH never communicated the re-assignment of fare buckets ?

As confirmed by this post.

This is a true bummer. Am flying ORD-FRA-BOM on AI shortly both in A (discounted FC). No miles $#@#!! transfer to LH.

No and neither on BMI as they are not a partner. However, if you don't want to waste them completely you could credit them to SQ's KrisFlyer program for 150% of the mileage flown. Not great but better then nothing. May actually get you an Eco flight in South East Asia or so.

There may also be some other options like TK or TG or even EK as they are all AI partners but that may have restictions on earning for certain routes and booking classes.

Great move since once bmi is fully integrated, I believe your EQMs from bmi will transfer to Miles&More even though it originally wouldn't count. Your best bet now is to hope that bmi gets fully integrated this year! :-)

It the same thing with air newzealand. If you book a flight in f.e. booking class S you will get no miles at all for your flight.

That's not the point, MYHO, because class "S" on Air New Zealand is
" Economy Class - Discounted (Smart Saver Domestic/Tasman/Pacific)"

whereas booking class "A" on TK refers to a FIRST Class Ticket in the range of ~ 5000 to 9000€ from Europe to East Asia!!!

We're not talking about discounted ECO fares here but real high-end classes that you have to shell out A LOT OF MONEY for and don't get ANY miles for it...

that's what drives me crazy...
