Depending on the travellers flying pattern and destinations you would have to disagree with this statement!
In addition to the companion award already mentioned above, the FTL card won't get the OP in any of the lounges at most airports these days (with the obvious exception of the LH groups' own lounges).

Yes, that's indeed very much OT w.r.t. the question if SEN offers added value compared to the FTL status.
But you are right that spending thousands of Euros for the purpose of lounge access only wouldn't be an economically sensible decision. But then again, show me a frequent flier enthusiast on FT who isn't a bit barmy. ;-))

A priority pass however would accomplish the lounge access issue in outstations.

Your way of with your thinking....
What they mean is they want you to fly enough in a period of 3 months to earn 37.500 status miles (a number of long haul flights will be required). And only when you have reached that you will get 11.250 miles as a bonus....
